Reviews of Zen Lounge
"Zen has potential to have the best nightlife in Queens. The place has a nice layout especially for the area, nice outdoor seating and the food has always been decent. I’ve always appreciated the bouncers at the door who are very welcoming and down to earth. I think management needs to make an assessment and determine that in order to get increased business they need to incorporate more of the local culture into their nightlife."
"Went out to ZEN on a Friday night. The service could of been better but if there is no crowd they will shut down without a proper notification. Paid $40 for hookah and $15 per drink. Within half hour they approach my party and told us we have to leave. This was a first time experience for a friend i wanted to show regarding the area i am familiar with. This was an embarrassment because everyone worked all day to come to a place to get kicked out because Zen was not getting the crowd they expected. The layout is a Buddha theme and its overall a nice looking place just poor service that night."
"I'm not sure what to really say about this spot... it's a pretty nice and spacious event space. However, the online description is misleading.. it's not a restaurant, just a lounge..we went to sit down and eat. U can't do that there before 11.. also all the tables have reserved signs but u can sit until the party comes. If your eating you'll have to get up...."
"The wait to go in wasn’t bad. Where my horrible night began was with the coat check! There’s one guy working there and it takes him like 10 minutes to put each person’s coat away. Second, had a VIP booked a month in advance. Came to find out it was double booked and some other party was sitting in my area. Had to end up being squished between two other parties all night. When the bottles came out, the bottle serving girls weren’t even enthusiastic. They just came and sat the bottles down without me even noticing. The French fries were good, but the chicken I ordered was undercooked I believe. I usually never order food in the club or at a lounge but since this was supposed to be a restaurant as well I expected more. When it came time to leave the club, coat check was a mess. I think they need better security and organization."
"I went there last night (11/7/15) with a few friends. I loved that they didn't judge anyone by their looks upon entry. The security was tight; they scanned our licenses, and checked our purses. It was my first time there, and 3 of my friends who came with, (6 of us total) raved about how wonderful this place was; it was clean, and new, and a good crowd with good music. All of that is true. We didn't experience any "aggressive" dancers bumping up on us there. The dance floor was spacious enough for the crowd that we weren't squished. Upon entry, there's a mandatory coat check ($6.00) to the left [but you could double up with a friend to divvy the cost], loud music (I'm so glad I brought earplugs! (saved myself some ear-lives) To the right are the restrooms. A little past the coat check are some benches on either side, and a black curtain in the middle. Beyond the curtain, to the immediate right is another seating area (free). And to the immediate left is "concierge". My friends and I walked in (the 3 of us who had not been before) and we scavenged around a bit. We "parked" at one of the rear couches where it was not busy with people's celebrations and what not. I was informed prior that it's not a lounge, even though that's in their title. But, that's not true. It is in fact a lounge. They do have bites to eat, but I didn't try anything off their menu. I did have my favorite drink from the bar, and it was just right; not too much alcohol and not too little! [Goldilocks moment!] The price wasn't ridiculous too; $8.00 for a Woo! Woo! The bathrooms were clean, and constantly looked after by staff. The kitchen, it's tucked away behind the bar. The DJ booth was across from the bar. There's an outdoor area too, with wrapped-table seating. It was chilly that night, so when the club was getting filled in, it felt good to have the breeze of cool air enter. Tables and lounge areas are not free! Minimum 1 bottle purchase if wished to be seated at a table/lounge seating; $200.00. I danced for about 3 hours before deciding to head out. They played SoCa, r&b, pop, Hindi, Punjabi, reggaeton (spelling), and some techno. There were a lot of birthdays that night too. everyone danced along to a really special birthday song. (I don't want to ruin the surprise for any newbies) If you're out in Richmond Hill, Queens, looking for a good time, definitely hit this place up. :)"
