I was granted a "Withholding of Removal" from the United States based upon a sexual orientation exemption in 2003. I missed the one-year deadline to renew this status, and my attorney at that time didn't try to appeal the suspension of my "Withholding of Removal" status. I have become more aware of immigration laws ever since and have continued updating my knowledge about immigration after this horrible experience. She was able to change my gender on my immigration paper with only one phone call! I thought that was amazing. I was so happy. Seeing progress after such a short time was finally some good news after such a long time of disappointment. I don't know how she obtained results so quickly, but she had shown me an ability no one else could soon after she was able to re-open my Asylum case. The case was reopened in 1 month! We filed a motion to re-open in October 2015, which was approved in November 2015. Amazing! We were given the date to see the Immigration Judge 2 months later. We had to change the venue and change the judge due to immigration scheduling conflicts, but Lia still kept getting results despite all of the challenges. I finally felt hope again based on how she does her work. Lia also wants her client to work hard with her. My case was very strong but very complicated, and I didn't even think I would win asylum, especially after I had been living in the United States for 16 years! After all her hard work, my asylum was finally granted without objection! She fought so hard for me. She cares about her clients. She takes her client's needs personally. She is my Angel.
