Reviews of City Station East
"Pros: 1. Clean 2. No bugs 3. Modern furniture 4. Good community 5. Satisfactory gym and game area 6. Gated parking Cons: 1. Extremely overpriced. 2. They don't give a portion of your deposit back stating it is"non-refundable". (Why wasn't I informed right?)"
"I've lived here for 1 year so far and am still living here. I've greatly enjoyed my stay here so far there are a number of very good things City Station East offers: 1) Proximity to RPI. I am close enough that I can walk to campus everyday with no issues, walk is typically 10 to 15 mins from city station to DCC. 2) Built into the RPI shuttle network. The shuttle stops RIGHT in front of city station east. On days where I don't feel like walking or when its raining, taking the option to take the shuttle right from the front door is a godsend. 3) The Gym. Having a Gym in the building is great, while they don't have every machine under the sun like they do in the RPI fitness center, they have enough machines + free weights that you can reasonably work out every muscle. The treadmills + ellipticals they have are also great for cardio. 4) The apartments themselves have very high ceilings and are very spacious. The desk and bedframe that come with each bedroom are very high-quality. So far no issues with bugs or mice. 5) The fob locked package & bike room is great, it shows they really take package theft and security seriously. The mailroom is also very nice. A few of the downsides have been pointed out by other reviewers that I agree with: 1) Central control of heating and cooling for each suite rather than separate for each bedroom. You have to compromise with roommates on temperatures. 2) One month of lost rent (Move in and move out on the 15th of the month but you have to pay the full month). But this is clearly spelled out in the contract so shouldn't be a surprise. I have not moved out yet so can not speak to the deposit fee shenanigans, however they allow you to take pictures and document conditions of the room on move in day and report it to them. If I experience deposit fee shenanigans in the future I will update this review."
"Say goodbye to your deposit money if you decide to live here since they will act in bad faith and steal your money whenever they can. Think twice and ask yourself if you are ready to deal with their shameless and dishonest management team."
"I enjoyed my stay in City Station partly because of the mint toilet, spacious bedroom, nice gym, secured entrances and secured mail delivery rooms and quick response from the maintenance staff. I'll give them 2 stars because, 1, the heating/cooling is centrally controlled. Thermostat was in the kitchen and using the kitchen temperature (always hot) to control the rooms (always cold). Worse thing my roommates love to have the thermostat at 65. I would have preferred regulating my own room temperature. My room was always colder than I wanted. 2 They change the terms of the agreement and you can't resist! Initially we paid exactly the amount agreed, later on they changed their website and we had to pay extra $1.6 every month. 3 You loose one month staying in City Station. You can't move in until 15 days after your first rent and you must move out 15 days before your last rent expires hence you lose a month. 4 They find any reason not to pay you back your security deposit! Even when they don't find any, they will still take $100 out of your deposit for some reasons that was never written on the agreement. Will I want to stay there again? Hell No!"
"Do not live here unless you are forced to. Read the complete lease agreement. City station will gouge you for money. You will pay 1 month extra rent."
