Hillcrest Village Apartment Homes 1515 Hillside Avenue, Niskayuna, NY 12309

"Worst place I've lived, tried paying the rent online and the payment got denied after a few days and they locked the account so you can't pay online. They want you to get a money order which they said you can't pay with anymore, The charges are insane. 150-200 bucks extra a month for amenities, sewage, water, ect. I've never had to pay water and sewer in an apartment. The building is like 70 years old and run down, no washer and dryer, no dishwasher, broken doors, leaking sink, clogged drain, sliding doors didn't slide, paint all over the glass on the sliding doors, missing the shelves and poles in the closet. Cheapest refrigerator and stove you can buy, and this was"recently renovated" allegedly. All for the small price of 1800+ a month. Oh...and there's barely any lighting so you need to bring your own. And then there's the balcony that's missing most of the paint and rotting. I've even offered to paint it myself but was told they have no paint left. So much more to go on about but I'll leave it at that. EDIT: One year later, After they didn't like my review they wouldn't renew our lease, Even tho we always paid our rent and never made any problems. Then after moving out freely "no eviction notice", they put a $12000 debt on our credit which we didn't owe them. DO NOT LIVE HERE."

"Warning ⚠️ This is the worst experience I've ever had with an apartment complex. The rent says $1350 but after all of the hidden fees you're paying more like $1700 and not only that they will take you to court over $100 just to get you out of there or to add even more fees. The office will never respond to your calls and there has been shootings, people murdered, break-ins and robberies in what's supposed to be a safe neighborhood. They never plow, shovel or put salt down in the Winter, and that's not even the worst of it. The dumpster is never emptied, the potholes are enough to break your car. The place is run down and the staff is terrible. If something breaks in your apartment, you have better chances of it getting fixed if you do it yourself. The only winter that I we stayed there our furnace stopped working completely. After 2 days of heating the apartment with the stove the office finally answered my call and sent over what the said was a maintenance worker. He had no idea what he was doing because he told us it wasn't his specialty. Mind you his specialty was sitting in front of the building in the truck watching Netflix on his phone when he wasn't stealing people's belongings out of apartments people had been locked out of. 2 weeks later we finally had a professional come fix the furnace after threatening the office will legal punishment. Then the neighbor who was actually running drugs out of his apartment who I had complained to the office about numerous times started a fire in my building. I was forced to sit outside in the cold and the snow while the fire department ramsacked my apartment, destroying the blinds and the carpet. Then just to add insult to injury the horrible property manager charged me and my wife for the damage made by the fire department when we left. YOV'VE BEEN WARNED. I WOULD'NT WANT MY WORST ENEMY TO EXPERIENCE WHAT WE DID.."

"Even though I was the leasee and my gf at the time was merely a signed resident in the apt, they let her overtake the apt, and let her mother and her brother and other people stay there. They knew the abuse I was experiencing and they lacked on protecting the actual leasee. From MY deposit I had to pay out past due light, water and trash bills that my ex gf owed from the months she was still there and i had been gone for months before that. Instead of charging her and making her leave, I had to be the one to call the police to protect me to be able to leave and I had to leave my furniture as well. Only thing good about this place was the maintenance guys. There was a man upstairs that was abusive to his partner constantly and always making noise at times outside of the allowance hours for the day!!! They allowed a lock change without my consent to my own apt!!! They acted like they didn’t know and STILL did nothing about it!! Yes I was a resident in 2019, but it’s high time I start opening my mouth about the kinds of things New York complexes treat people . They’ll take care of bad folk like that before they help people who’ve done nothing but treat them with respect. They would not let me break the contract due to the circumstances and expected a ludicrous amount to do so. So I opted to leave it."

"If your looking for a great place to call home Hillcrest is it. Been here almost 5 months and it's been nothing but good. I have never had such peace and quite in an apartment complex especially at night when trying to sleep. I had a water pipe issue and maintenance was there in less that 30 minutes and got me all fixed up. The office people have been great also,there always a phone callaway if you need them. My apartment is great with alot of space."
