"This complaint is regarding GEEK SQUAD, not the rest of the store. I went in today after scheduling an appointment with Geek Squad (through Apple Care) to repair my iPhone's cracked screen. When I arrived they immediately informed me that the phone would have to be replaced because the back sides glass was cracked also, I didn't have an issue with that or the cost of it. What I did have an issue with was that the gentleman from Geek Sqaud who swapped my phone for me for a Certified Refurbished one damaged my SIM Card! We played around with the phone for a few minutes before resorting to me having to reach out to Sprint's Customer Service. Sprint then eventually set me up to head over to a Corporate Sprint Store to have the SIM Card replaced. The Sprint representative who helped me also told me that "you can't just swap out SIM's anymore, the guys over at Geek Squad should have known this". I pay a monthly fee for Apple Care and then I also paid up front today to have the phone swapped out, all in the end to receive a refurbished phone that does not work. In addition, it was very convenient to have to head over to a totally different location after Best Buy just to get my phone to work, a phone that was given to me BY GEEK SQUAD. The gentleman who helped me at Geek Squad was a nice guy, but it did not seem like he knew what he was doing after some time. I would like to receive some sort of a refund for my appointment that I had today as it became useless after some time. I had to eventually call Sprint and then I had to eventually drive over to a Corporate Sprint Store to get my phone to work. If I paid Geek Squad, then they should be the ones finishing up the job, to completion. Not just hand me a refurbished iPhone and say "Ok our job is done". This is unacceptable."
"Not very knowledgeable and the important services such as data recovery is incredibly high in cost compared to independent companies. Rude on the phone because they are "too busy to talk" it was a bad experience all around. Find a local PC/Apple service center that isn't associated with any big box store or chain."
"If I could give Geek Squad negative stars I would. I bought a lenovo laptop in 2015 and in 2018 the screen suddenly stopped working. They said there was nothing they can do and buy a new one. So I bought another Lenovo. A month later the screen started to flicker and when I brought it to them they said there was nothing they can do at the store and to ship it out for about 3 weeks to get it fixed. I (as I'm sure many other people agree) need their laptop for work, school, etc. I then, about 5months into the new laptop (with the screen flickering) realized I kept loosing my wifi connection every 5-10 min. I called them and they immediately said i need a new wifi chip and all they can do is ship it out for about 3 weeks. All in all- they do not fix ANYTHING (at least in the store in a timely manner). If you can go without your laptop for about 3 weeks then maybe they are good for you. These are just a few of the bad stories I have of Geek Squad. I'm sure its not only this Geek Squad location, but this is the one I go to and that is why I am writing my review here. Very very disappointed."
"Cracked screen on a cell phone. Spent two hours and I was told that they no longer make that particular model, nor could they replace the screen. When in fact another Best Buy had my exact model in stock at a significant savings as opposed to upgrading to a new model. He also told me if I would go to a screen repair store that the cost would be $150. I later find out that two screen repair shops would be able to replace the screen one was quoted at $89 and the other for $75, however they both did not have the screen in stock but it would either be 2-5 days if I could wait that long. The Geek Squad did spend approx. two hours trying to move data from the old phone to the new phone. Restocking fee is $35. Guess they need a forklift to lift a HEAVY CELL PHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be returning the new phone. What a joke."
"Idk if it's the people best buy hired or if it just sucks to work there but all of the two people that were behind the counter looked miserable and like they had no desire to work there anymore. I had stood in line for about 10 min before anyone asked me if I had an appointment which I did. Then upon trying to diagnosis the problem with my MacBook (screen was cracked) I was told it would be cheaper tocget a new laptop "since they don't make my laptops screen anymore" , so he suggested I purchase a hard drive and they'll move everything from my laptop to the hard drive for a nominal fee of 120$. I did it and when I picked up my laptop they just handed me the laptop and the hard drive no explanation of what they did nothing. So today after making a few calls I found out that not only do they did these things at other best buys but my screen is in stock and would cost a couple hundred not nearly the price of a new laptop. So here I am getting duped by the goddamn geek squad. One of my most least pleasurable encounters to day with a y company. ATTENTION BEST BUY EAST NORTHPORT get a new geek squad or stop the whole thing in general. Ridiculous never going back for any repairs or anything, y'all suck. Sincerely Will B."
