"Great people to work with!! Installers were very professional and they did a great job with the cuts in counter and seams were great . Have a lot of compliments from friends and subcontractors to do the backsplash they were very impressed. Highly recommend them for countertops. Thanks so much !!!!!"
"Oh where to begin... Our builder has/had a contract with Empire State Stone, so that’s where we had to get our granite from. Well, the first island they installed had three corners finished one way and the fourth finished another way. Now I’m no expert, but I’ve NEVER seen a kitchen island finished like that, EVER. Apparently, when they asked how I wanted them finished, they didn’t take into consideration what the radius of one corner (the one that was finished differently) needed to be. Okay, so if one corner needed to finished differently, wouldn’t someone with common sense call the customer and let them know, so that they could be given the choice to change the other three corners? Oh and it was four inches shorter than it was supposed to be. Fast forward over two years and going back & forth with the builder and the owner of ESS, we finally get a new island installed with four matching corners and is the correct length. Should be the end of the story, but after a couple of months, we notice a crack in the granite. Not good! We reach out to Amanda, leave a couple of messages as finally get someone to come out to look at the crack (which took almost a month). Another couple of weeks go by with no word from ESS. I call again and Amanda requests photos of the island to see what she has, which I sent that day. Another two + weeks go by before we get an email with two pictures of two slabs of granite that were difficult to see, so I asked if I could stop in to See them. No response. So I wait a couple of days and just stop in. Clearly, with all the pictures the guy took of the island with the crack and the pictures I sent, you’d think she would have known the ones she sent me pictures of were much too dark. Well as we were explaining that ours was much lighter, we were told they had another piece of a slab that may work. While part of the slab was darker (not as dark as the full slabs we were shown) the one side was much lighter and much closer to what we have throughout the rest of the kitchen. We asked if we could have with we needed for the island from that side and NOT have the darker area. We were assured we could, so we agreed. Well, today the granite arrived and guess what? ITS THE DARKER SIDE of the slab, yes, the part of the slab we specifically said we didn’t want! Even the installers said it didn’t match! Amanda’s response, “we chose it so we’re stuck with it”! So much for customer service! We very specifically agreed to a certain part of the slab, but that’s not what was delivered. DO NOT do business with these people! They don’t stand behind their work. They’re not responsive when you contact them and they clearly don’t care about their customers!"
"My husband and I had decided to do some updates to our kitchen. Our contractor recommended a gentleman named "K" at Empire State Stone. We wanted to put Quartz countertops in. K was very helpful in helping us pick out both colors and types of edges available. Within 3 days he was able to come to our home, make the templates, and order the Quartz slab. The entire time K kept up updated with when we could expect countertop to be completely done. From start to finish it was 1week! K is extremely professional, knowledgeable and loves what he does!! Would highly recommend K and Empire State Stone!!!!!"
"Empire State Stone is simply the BEST! After researching different granite companies to complete our master bathroom, Empire came through with flying colors. From the moment we entered the showroom, the staff was very friendly, helpful and not pushy at all. Their prices were about 15% lower than two other competitors and their service was above and beyond. We are overjoyed with the end result and would highly recommend them to anyone."
"Let me begin by saying that the stone is beautiful, however, there ends the positive portion of this review. We were living out of state and came back several times to choose a stone seller/fabricator and the stone. Unfortunately, we chose wrong. We paid for 2.5 pieces of stone and specified which 2 were our primary pieces and which one was our least favorite form which the .5 should come. In other words, we specified which ones we wanted to keep whole and which one we wanted half of. Well, since our sales rep was not there at that time and the owner was too busy to come out and talk with us, we were left with one of the fabricators who did not know us from Adam. As a result, when we came back into town to map out our stone, they had already sold half of one of the pieces that we wanted to keep whole. When we asked the answer was you only needed 2.5. When we thought about it more and complained to our kitchen builder, who had recommended Empire Stone. We were told we could go somewhere else and they would refund our money but we were between a rock and a hard place because our house was progressing and we could not afford to start over from a timing stand point. So the pieces we were left with were 1.5 of the good ones and a whole one that was not ideal since the grain differed from the other 2. Next problem: We were not present when the stone was installed and boy, was that a big mistake. #1) The 1st issue is the seams. The seams were okay, but not the greatest. After much back and forth, they finally came out to work the seam color more. It did look better. #2) The gap between the back splash and the wall is at least 1/2" in some areas. Since the back splash is glued to the countertop, there is nothing that we can do at this point and we are stuck with big gaps. #3) The caulking between the surface and the backsplash is shoddy and has gaps. #4) There is no calking between the back splashes and the walls. #5) The polish is not great and is splotchy in some areas. Granted, they did attempt to fix #1, only after a lot of us complaining. The last 4 issues we complained about later and still they have not responded. In summary: good stone and horrible service."
