"My partner and I requested to lease a non-smoking apartment with this apartment community and we were given an apartment that had been smoked in for 30 years straight, the leasing agent disclosed to me. We were unaware of this when we signed the lease because they claimed that the apartment was not ready yet to be shown. When my partner and I went to tour the apartment with the leasing agent, I told my partner that I could not live here. Simply, I just could not after touring. We spent the first four hours of our move-in day scrubbing all the walls, countertops, windowsills, doors, etc and we were reimbursed $100 off of our rent for next month. YAY! Not the most terrible reward but I would have expected more. We paid over $70 in cleaning supplies because they had only one cleaner which they had disclosed was not the best. In turn, we had to re-clean the entire apartment ourselves in the first two days of our move-in. What a great first impression, Bennington Hills! Mind you, there was clearly tar all over the windows, windowsills, and on the walls in the kitchen. The tar was dripping whenever we were trying to cook. GROSS. Bennington Hills did try and send the cleaner back to fix the smoke smell so I appreciated them doing that but the smoke smell was just way too strong and had been in that apartment for far too long and the carpets obviously needed to be replaced immediately prior to move-in. Our apartment’s carpet had stains and it reeked so bad of smoke smell that I asked management for the carpeting to be replaced throughout the entire apartment. Katie, the manager, asked me where the smell was most prominent and I told her that it did not matter and that the entire carpet should have been replaced prior to move-in and will all be replaced now. She ended up getting hostile over the phone and had agreed to finally replace the carpet throughout the entire apartment. Everything was getting better because the smoke smell was almost gone and we had re-cleaned the apartment so it was a lot cleaner than before when we moved-in. We were told at the day of move-in when we did a walkthrough that our above neighbor was a “chainsmoker” and stayed out on their patio smoking 24/7. This information did not need to be disclosed and it was very unprofessional for them to tell us that resident’s personal information. The resident above us became a problem with the amount of noise complaints we had to make about her stomping, banging, yelling, etc. This became an absolute nightmare that we had to speak with the neighbor ourselves and it was not very kind words at that point because the office could have cared less and would let the person above us know about the noise complaints but never enforce anything to make our stay more comfortable. There was a person that was not on her lease who was causing all of the noise which we were hearing and the office did not care one bit. The other person was intoxicated multiple times and the neighbor had to call the cops multiple times, as for several other issues. These apartments are also built very cheaply for the amount of rent that they charge and they are trying to label these as “luxury apartments” but they are far from it. If you want to live in an apartment community with crime, drug deals every night, absolutely no rules or care from management, then this is a great place for you! Rachel was probably the best part about this entire experience but we were still in shock that we were lied to about the apartment being non-smoking and it clearly was not by the smell when we did the walkthrough. They could have disclosed to us that they did not have any non-smoking apartments available if that was the case. Moving out of this apartment was the best decision we have ever made, if only we could get our money back for breaking our lease. This company is a shady company. We deserve more than an apology for all that we went through with them. PS: If you are trying to decide if you should rent here, DO NOT!! Take it from a previous resident who lived here, your worst nightmare!"

"The staff at Bennington Hills really do care about the safety and well being of their tenants. The apartments are beautiful, well maintained , and the atmosphere here is positive and welcoming. I love living here , as does my son and my dogs . The girls in the office , Rachael and Nicole , are so loving and kind . Joe , head of maintenance, genuinely cares when you need something fixed . He is on top of his game , and I am thankful for all of them and their dedication to us . Bravo !"
