Reviews of Village Green Court
"Former tenant of 3 years under previous owner and a year under current company. The advertising for these units is mostly false. There is nothing here to consider it "luxury" living and with 675 square feet, it's not "extremely spacious". My unit was the last to be renovated under the former owner, so it was *nice* for a single person. Families of three or four would immediately move because there isn't enough room whatsoever in these two bedroom apartments for more than 2 people. The only structural changes made by the company is they opened the wall to the kitchen (from a woefully undersized living room) and removed half the master bedroom closet space to install air conditioners. The bedrooms are tiny, and the bathroom is tinier than most NYC apartment bathrooms. Services? The garbage valet service is a gimmick meant to monetize the owner's investment. Trash cans are just 20 ft from the front door (essy enough to access when you leave for work evrry day) and the hallways smell like trash every collection day as everyone's trash lingers in un-air conditioned hallways until they're picked up by this silly valet service. The trash cans you're given are much bigger than the one you'd want in these undersized units. For most, they're also quite garrish. Snow removal is a nightmare as the company hires a third party that insistently failed to understand the water drainage issues of this property. The snow plow driver we interacted with made threatening remarks to my elderly neighbor after plowing his car in behind five feet of snow in the ground that was piled 3 ft high and refused to remedy the situation he caused. He said "my boss told me to drive off if anyone gave me any trouble." It turns out, he owns the plow company. Very two-faced. There was nothing professional about my closing months of interaction with this company nor its hired services. In certain building basements it sounds like hollow foundations under the concrete likely due to washout from melted snow. Yet the snow is plowed up against the buildings, and the sidewalks are impassable as well as damaged by the plow blades. The former owner knew his property well and managed snow like a pro every year. This company clearly opts for cheap and destructive. The new owner company does little to maintain the appearance of the property. Some landscaping was done initially near the entrance, but no more appears to have been done. I rented for around $800 in 2022 followed by a rent hike to $1325 with zero justification. The company is opportunistic and priced many elderly tenants out of their two or three decade-long homes. It appears to be the trend across this companies other properties as well. I bought a house, seeing how egregious a company like this is with rental property rates and false advertising. It appears designed to sucker-in new college kids and younger couples wanting to be in the village. The cost to rent these severely undersized 2 bedroom units is unreasonable, to be plain. These are typically the size of single-tenant studio apartments. Certainly not 2 bedroom units. No contact has made by the Green Company with regard to deposit refund despite no issues with my emptied apartment in late summer 2022. Staff was mostly clueless about their duties and deflected responsibilities to others. The staff couldn't be bothered to post timely notices on doors, for example, asking tenants to move cars for plowing. Instead they emailed whatever email addresses they had on file and believed they gave apt notice. Most tenants were surprised the next day when their cars were plowed in -- who checks email any more, I guess. The property owner clearly has no experience managing properties. This once-beautiful property...with historic value...is in the hands of a profit-driven company that is happy with very deceptive advertising for its overpriced units. Only the facts here. In my closing months at the property, my neighbors expressed considerable disgust with the new owner's activities. I'll gladly add a photo or video from before"
