"I went to do my taxes at jackson Hewitt taxes because it was close to my house. But it wind up being the best thing that I did. Because all these yrs i went to HR BLOCK and it always seems to me that I got less than what I was supposed to get. But Jackson Hewitt got me more than I expected and I really appreciate it. "Over $200 to file your taxes here Tax preparer was great quick, efficient, friendly and professional - only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that fees for service could have been discussed or clairified multiple times... When setting the appointment with a different individual/appointment setter I asked about what this would cost me... I was told not to worry that it comes out of my taxes - no billing amount was clarified. A few days before I my appointment I called the office and asked the same question... was given the same response. It would have been nice to know they required over $200 to do my taxes prior to them being done... At the end of the appointment no fees were discussed and I was handed my documents.... When I arrived home I reviewed my paper work $124.00 for federal deluxe package - billed when u have more than 1 w2 $65.00 for state return fees $38.00 for assisted refund fees These fees are half of my refund. For example: My state refund was $11.00 and their charged fees were $65.00 - this is nearly 6x the amount of the return As pleasent as my experience was with my tax preparer these fees are considerably high when you take in the fact that the online advertising says you can use their online portal for $25.00 As a single person no kids and 1 w2 for work 1 1099g for unemployement Again this has nothing to do with the individual filing my taxes but the fees are way too high when you break it down.... Hope this helps others- make sure your charges and service fees are given to you before going in... I would have just done them myself if I was aware of these rates in advance."

"I would give 0 stars if I could. I had an appointment for noon and I didn’t get seen until after 1pm. While I was waiting they took another gentleman who walked in before me who had an appointment which I thought was uncalled for. There is no reason a walk in should be seen right away and an appointment have to wait over an hour past the appointment time. The reps never apologized for being behind and did not communicate when I arrived that they were running a little late. I know that businesses get busy and may be running late but that should be communicated up front to the customer for everyone’s sake. The customer before me waited over an hour and a half past her appointment time at which point they convinced her to just drop it off. I wasn’t the only customer whose time was wasted there today. Whoever made the appointment didn’t communicate in the appointment book that I had two years of tax returns to do and with self employment (1099) forms. The reps were rolling their eyes and sighing rudely when I had more forms than they were expecting. I can’t help the fact that whoever answered the phone to make my appointment didn’t write down the exact services I would be needing. The reps gave some flimsy excuse as to why they couldn’t do either year’s worth of taxes and so I left the place with nothing accomplished, no taxes filed, and nearly two hours of my time wasted. I went home and filed my taxes using the TurboTax software for self employed. It was easy and quick, took less than 40 minutes to complete and was cheaper as well. Going to this place was a complete waste of time and the reps have no customer service skills. The lady told me they do things “by the book” which apparently only applies when it benefits them. But they’re okay with being an hour behind on appointments."
