Reviews of Erie Canal Lock E-2
"Great spot to watch the Waterford Tug Boat Roundup."
"They have nice festivals throughout the summer including Canalfest and Tugboat Roundup which including vendors, food carts, fireworks, a 5k run and tugboat parade. There is a boat launch and you can rent kayaks. There are picnic tables and grassy areas to rest and it is just down the road from Broad St. in Waterford which has some resturants if you want to grab food and have a picnic. The canal is located across from Peebles Island State Park which is a beautiful green space with walking trails, a historic building you can tour, a picnic area that you can rent for festivities and a small deck for a nice view. There are BBQ's and picnic tables along with plenty of green space."
"Great place. Canal fest in May tugboat fest in August with fireworks and a great farmers market on Saturday"
"I love to fish at the lock. I have never seen the concrete walls damaged and chunks missing, the flooding and winter must have been harsh! It’s beautiful here especially with nice weather, hours just disappear by mistake relaxing here. Highly recommend"
"A nice piece of history nestled behind a Waterford neighborhood. The folks working the lock are always friendly and take time to explain what's going on, how it works, and share some stories. This lock is well maintained, has a large difference in water levels, and has some places to picnic nearby."
