"Nice 4x4 drive on beach for fishing and surfing. My favorite place to relax and enjoy the best our Island has to offer. Love to get there early on week day for the peace and solitude. Make sure you have the proper NYS permit as well as all of the required equipment. Don't forget to properly air down, the beautiful white sand is sugary soft and you will get stuck!"

"This beach is open throughout the year for 4*4 vehicles with a permit for fishing or surfing. There is a sign at the entrance to stop your vehicle without the permit. The entrance is narrow, but once you pass the entrance, the beach is very wide for off-roading. If you do not have 4*4 vehicles, then you have a chance of getting stuck in beach sand. Tow truck is always there to make money out of you, so be careful with AWD vehicle. Now, you will see the sign to air down your tires as soon as you get off from Ocean Parkway."
"Gilgo Beach is reopened on 2022 April after Army Corps Of Engineers completed the beach erosion repair / reconstruction. It's much wider / smoother than before. My kids are loving it."
