Reviews
"This was our favorite park until they refurbished the LIRR Track that runs through it. They did a such a great job building the boardwalk and pier that overlooks the pond only to cut off the water supply that fed it with the track remodel about a year or so ago. Sadly, the pond will probably dry in a year and all the wildlife that depended on it will be gone too. Should be a 5 star rating but seeing it now breaks our heart."
"This is a really cute park but it does not seem to be well looked after. The "boardwalk" has graffiti and lots of weak boards. There is a bunch of trash along the route to the pond. I'm not sure if I caught it on an off day, but the pond was very low and where we have previously seen hundreds of turtles (huge ones too), there was not much wildlife to be seen and lots of trash in the water. I've hiked along the Greenbelt trail in the past that brings you through the park and it takes you past the lake and under the train trestle which is very colorful with graffiti. It was a nice surprise as most of the trail weaves behind and between people's yards. There is a playground with lots of benches for parents. The playground is a bit old but has a spots for little ones as well as fun climbing spots for bigger kids. There is a basketball court, picnic tables and bathrooms near the parking lot. I can picture how beautiful this place must have been when it was first built but it definitely needs a little TLC."
"Extensive network of boardwalks over wetlands makes this park somewhat unique. Boardwalks are extended by land trails at perimeter of the park. There is a pass under highway leading to Connetquot River state park via Greenbelt trail. Given nature of undergrowth in the park tick could be quite an issue in summer time on land trails."
"Love this park it has been a favorite of mine and my family's for years! Been taking my kids here since they were really little and they always have a good time!"
