Reviews of Soldiers Memorial Fountain
"Very quiet and relaxing spot. The sound of the water in the fountain is tranquil. Good shade & breeze cause of the trees. Fountain does need an upgrade."
"One of the most beautiful fountains I have ever seen in my life. There are a handful of benches surrounding the fountain and some faux decorative cannons. During the warmer months, the fountain is on. It is really calming especially at night when it is lit up. One of my favorite places in Poughkeepsie."
"The Soldiers Memorial Fountain is located on the corner of Market and Montgomery St. Dedicated to our war heroes that fell in the line of duty. Memorial Day thru Labor Day the fountain runs 24/7 and is the best time to visit when all the flowers are in bloom. Enjoy!"
"Why am I reviewing a fountain? It's a fountain. It's fine. There used to be a Pokémon Go gym there. No idea if people still play. I think it's an Ingress landmark too (maybe that's true of all Pokemon Go sites?). It's actually a decent strip to grind for Pokémon Go between there and the Post Office up and down Market St. The road forks around the fountain and there are bus stops on either side. One is an enclosure and one is just a sign. But which one will the bus go to?? I think the enclosure is for the soon to be defunct city bus. Probably you want to wait by the sign, out in the elements, for the Loop bus. Don't be seduced by the enclosure. If you're really not sure, wait in the middle and run when the bus forks one way or the other. Or don't run. Running is dangerous. Maybe the driver will see you and you can flag them down and safely amble over. It's not a very big fountain."
"It's just a fountain at the corner of market and Montgomery streets but during the summer months when it has the water running you can sit on the benches and relax and enjoy the solitude. The only downside is that sometimes there are homeless people and people who use drugs hanging out there."
