"40 yrs ago it was just a pond where we use to party at , we also use to drive our cars and trucks back there . My buddy had a chunk of his leg removed by a huge snapping turtle they are big in there . Use to be tons of frogs around the edge and we use to gig for them and have fresh frog legs over the fire back there . It's part of the old Nike base for the military."
"A quaint lake, with a GREAT walkway to the lake from the parking lot. The other guests were polite, and friendly. BUT..... There's a CAR actually IN the lake right off the dock. Not a big deal, but VERY disconcerting when you're looking down into the water."
"Sadly no picks will be going back to go fishing will absolutely pop some didnt think about it was first time their only saw a bit. Was cool and fun. Yes the outdoors is fun! Lol"
"Quiet small fishing and shallow kayaking lake. They recently put in a nice board walk for the short hike back. The banks are muddy- be prepared! There are houses that back up the north and west edges of the lake so you are not in total seclusion. Perfect kayaking for kids. Lots of small fish and tiny marine life to see. About a dozen parking spots."
"I currently live and had grown up very close to this place. First time I had been here was with my grandfather to fish... That was over 20 years ago now! Back then it was all just woods, there was no off street parking, trail going back was thin because it was just from foot traffic. Also, there wasn't a housing development built that had some houses property lines ending within 50ft of the waters edge (Doesn't bother me all that much that the houses are literally right there but it was alot nicer before they were there because it didn't feel as though it was in a suburban area even though it was. Primarily it just makes me feel like I'm going to have a home owner have a problem with me being there even though I'm not on their property but hasn't happened yet). To any of the people who are not satisfied with the parks amenities just know it was much worse back in the day so if you aren't happy with it then please don't go there...I'd rather not have one of my favorite spots getting overrun with people and ruin it. I was just there last week though and the Town of Amherst had started the construction of a boardwalk from the parking lot to the waters edge...it was just posts in the ground so far so I'm curious about what the actual plan is with when it will be finished. If you ask me it's a bit late in the year to be making use of the boardwalk now if they are going to finish it before end of the year...or maybe they are going to just do the posts for now?"
