Reviews of Philipsburg Manor
"October is the perfect time of the year to visit this historic place. Whether you are into history or just into getting spooked, Philipsburg Manor is a place to go if you are in Sleepy Hollow."
"An interesting tour that takes through a historic farm and business that was supplied by slave labor... the tour takes you through the mill, the home, and craft, the barn and gardens. Photography isn't allowed in the house. Different guides dressed in period garments take you through each different area."
"Nicely restored. Beautiful place. The information from staff is definitely politically motivated. Whoever scripted the narrative definitely disregards a lot of other nationalities in our worldwide historical human trafficking. I guess just one more historical rewrite ."
"We had a beautiful day to enter into the Year 1750. They had 23 slaves who worked on the farm. We learned about their jobs. It was a very educated tour. They have a gift shop. They welcome bus tours. It’s not for scooters and wheelchairs. The house and grist mill has steps to walk. Bathrooms are in the gift shop. The Manor is in the town of Sleepy Hollow."
"I did enjoy the tour to the Philipsburg Manor for its story, beauty and friendly staff. This tour teaches the story of the manor around 1750 and the people that lived there. The tour was of 4 parts, the mill where the flour was done, the kitchen where the butter and meals were prepared, the barn where the wheat was processed and stored, and finally the oven where the dry bread was cooked and then sold for the army or the ships. Every part was given for a different person and each of them were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic."
