"Hurricane Henri damaged my roof during 6" of rain & 60mph winds for over 8 hrs causing water to seep into my top floor knocking down two partial ceilings and 3 walls to partially drop. Adjusters came and convinced Brownstones not to settle my claim because it was my fault that my exterior roof wasn't maintained properly. My roof was last done in 2010,never had leakage since until this storm and Hurricane Ida (a week later). I've been paying this company thousands of dollars for coverage for close to 40 years. This was my first claim ever and apparently they refused to honor my claim. The adjuster at time of inspection looked at the interior of my house and explained that they don't go on rooftops and that I had to find a roofer to do & submit an estimate (which I had done). My question is after all these years of paying Brownstones, what happened to my money and how can they deny me of my first claim? Is this a bais to not pay for house/property damage?"
