"Great venue for music and friends. This is a comfy place to bring your own food and drinks and enjoy local music for a small door charge."
"The new owners of the Dive House Union Strand Theater have banded together to create an intimate jazz club like setting presenting fabulous music, almost always with a horn section! And just what is better than a horn section?! Do yourself a favor and run to get tickets to the next event at this tiny tucked away gem. I believe soon the Chicago Transit Authority is playing here, always a great event. If you are a fan of Chicago, you will enjoy the tribute just to feel the love the band exudes for their idols! BTW, the Steely Dan tribute led by the brilliance of Joseph Mahfoud was astounding, enjoyed immensely."
"This is a small personal venue with excellent sound and owners. Bring your own drinks and food and listen to great music after purchasing a ticket online or at the door. This particular evening was a group called Hambone from Maine. Four excellent musicians who create a sound to move the masses. They pay attention to one another. Lead guitar, singer, writer/composer Sam, I expect he'll be doing some cinematic music compositions in his future. The man can Sing! Organist and keyboard artist Kale, really knows how to play for an audience, melding the keys to meet each musical artist where they are at. Had me head turning as he matched vocal and guitar sounds on keys. What a unity in musicianship. Lots of crowd appreciation shown. Nick on a Yamaha broad bass 5 string, plays like a lead guitarist, while not stealing the show. A unified force, with fellow musicians creating a solid baseline to this foursome generating original music. Dan on drums and percussion, is so artistic in his playing, you catch all the subtleties and nuances he purposefully employs, proving his vitality to the sound that is Hambone. Dan is a force of excellence. It's obvious these musicians enjoy performing with one another for the receptive audience. Meeting and talking to the band after the show, each one of them credited the room itself, The DHU Strand Theatre for the Great sound that was heard emanating from this band. There was talk of bringing Hambone back maybe every 6 months. I would buy my ticket the day they go on sale for this venue and verifiable artisticly soul lifting melodious band."
"A great venue to see a show, and a great one to play! Bring your own food, adult drinks, pop and snacks. See a great performance up close and intimate, with great sound, lighting and atmosphere!"
"Great little music venue, I have a great time whenever I go. There is an open mic every Mondays hosted by Miller & the Other Sinners Band and live shows periodically."
