Reviews
"Updated Review: The Citizenry provided excellent customer care and service. My entire bedding bundle arrived beautifully packaged, via FedEx. The quality and color is gorgeous. I can’t wait to sleep on these! Washing them for the first time and going to put them on the bed tonight. I am very pleased with the company’s commitment to customer care, satisfaction and support. Permitting these sheets last, and work well, I will definitely order from here again."
"Edit: 5 stars. Store manager (Lauren) called out and took care of the issue in a little over a day. They sent out a replacement. Good turn around time and service. Thank you. Original Review: Ordered a whole set of linen sheets from this place nine months ago for about almost 600 dollars and they are beautiful and was really pleased at first. However, the fitted sheet already has holes in it. I'm not sure if I just got a bad one or not, but I would steer clear if you're looking for linen sheets that are durable."
"Conscious home decor. High quality products with a story behind. Timeless designs."
"I love the products but the customer service is horrible. Ordered two pillows on the website over 2 weeks ago. No shipping notification as of yet. 2 emails sent to customer service with no response. Commented on 3 Instagram posts and finally got an answer to my DM saying that “customer service would be in touch”. Still nothing. For the prices, this is really unacceptable."
"The Citizenry emphasizes independent textile artisans from all over the world but... it's a ruse. Somehow, the various artisans from Indonesia, Portugal, and Peru all have the same ethnic-lite aesthetic, woven into textiles of bland neutrals like cream, beige, and more beige. For that bold punch of color, pale salmon. The homogenization of cultures undermines The Citizenry's mission of authenticity resulting in a more antiseptic version of Restoration Hardware, if that’s possible. The store's video shows crafts people weaving naturally dyed yarn on a loom into rich and varied textiles. What we don’t see are the myriad of people hunched over sewing machines in factories, but if you're into bucolic fantasies, The Citizenry pours it on thick. The Citizenry’s products are designed in-house by a team with vanilla tastes appealing to suburban sensibilities. Gone are the individual, cultural voices which they claim to promote. The craftsmanship is quite high though and the prices reflect the quality. The service is excellent too. Like Starbucks and Whole Foods, The Citizenry is yet another example of gentrification in this once beautiful city. As of now, The Citizenry has one store in NYC but corporate expansion will soon bring The Citizenry to a mall near you."
