Reviews of Hotel Boutique at Grand Central
"Though I enjoyed staying at this hotel and liked eco-friendly approach, I am very disappointed by delayed customer service: still not sending a receipt to my designated email address and not reimbursing USD 1,000 to my card which was overcharged. I am waiting for their follow-up action for more than a week. After two phone calls and two inquiry emails, I cannot recommend this place for my colleagues any more."
"Overall I was ok with my stay. I also didn't stay in my room long enough to really make any complaints but the complaints I do have made the stay a little uncomfortable. First, I don't think I was given the correct room. I booked a king bed but my feet hung off the bed so I'm sure it wasn't a king. Didn't realize until it was very late at night and I was too tired to go complain. Also didn't have time the next day to complain so just dealt with it. Bathroom was a little dirty. Had hair stuck to the side of the shower of different thicknesses. Also the shower curtain touches the floor and goes into the shower by 1 foot. The air conditioner quit working. Like it was on and blowing air but it wasn't blowing cold air. This happened on our second day and it was very late at night when we got back so thought it pointless to try to get it fixed. That night was our last and not having air made the room very unpleasant and gave me a headache. Area was a little noisy but l guess that's New York. The door was difficult to find because Google shows the building entrance on the wrong street. The location is prime though. Right by Grand Central, close the Central Park and Times Square and can easily jump on the Lexington Subway to get to Brooklyn Bridge. Employees were friendly. I wanted to check in early though and called a week ahead of time to be put on a list due to my flight arriving at 6am.. I was told I'd have to call on Friday morning to see if I can check in early. Very inconvenient by not knowing where to put luggage or if we'd be able to shower before exploring. We just decided to show up that morning and hope for the best. We ended up getting told conflicting information. First we're told we could check on by noon and they allowed us to arrange our luggage and change. Once we arranged our luggage and changed and got back downstairs, we spoke to a different employee who said we wouldn't be able to check in until 3 because of the room we booked. But they held our luggage, so that somewhat worked but was definitely not ideal. Late checkout wasn't even an option... even though the website says it is. We were told the latest we could check out was 12:30 and if we wanted any later, we'd have to pay for another day. Very inconvenient and annoying for later flights and needing to prepare for a flight. Ended up having a very uncomfortable flight because of not being able to properly prepare for the flight. Guess that's not their problem but I feel the check in and check out times need to be flexible. But again, they did hold our luggage until we had to leave for the flight, so that somewhat worked out. Overall, stay was alright. I think if I were to go back to New York, I might stay again but will definitely be looking for other options first."
"great hotel. amazing staff who are very friendly and helpful. nice rooms, very clean and modern. cold filtered water machines on some floors, which was a great touch. would definitely stay here again."
"I liked the very central location of the hotel, just around the corner from Grand Central station. I would definitely recommend the area ... but not the Hotel Boutique Grand Central! The hotel clearly did not have enough cleaning staff. Our room was not cleaned despite us requesting a clean twice. We were offered a clean the next morning instead ... the day of our departure, which rendered said offer futile. Ours was not a unique case and in fact there were other guests whose rooms had not been cleaned for two consecutive days! Some of the staff were very nice and helpful, others not so much and seemed like the could not care a lot. Also, there was no safe in the room, which in my view is standard practice. I complained about the issues during our stay but so far (a month later), I have not heard back from the hotel manager. The hotel is not cheap, which is why their poor service is surprising. I would recommend the Grand Central area for sure - but go for a friendlier, more service-oriented alternative instead!"
"Highly recommended to anyone visiting NYC. The location is fantastic. It's in a prime location, with (almost) everything within walking distance. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, so you will never run out of things to do. One of my favorite things about the hotel was the rooftop. It's simply amazing, and the view from up there is breathtaking. It's a great place to relax and unwind after a long day of sightseeing or work. Another great feature of the hotel is the free coffee and tea that's available 24/7. This was a nice touch and greatly appreciated, especially for those early morning starts. Overall, our stay at the Hotel Boutique Grand Central was absolutely fantastic. The location, the rooftop, and the free coffee and tea made our stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great hotel in the area."
