"This place is a Hidden Gem, with easy access to NYC. it on Quiet Staten Island, which makes it a good respite from the busy hustle and bustle of New York. The close proximity (within a 10 minute walk) to the Staten Island Ferry makes it convenient home base to get in and out of NYC. It is relatively inexpensive compared to staying in other boroughs. You basically get a nice room, with a small 10 channel basic cable tv. nothing special) and each floor has a bathroom. You might share the bathroom with one other guest if there's someone in the other room on your floor. But overall it is great. You meet the owner who is very easy to communicate with and can help you learn about the city if you have any questions. Very approachable through Email. I had to cancel a couple of times and he took care of everything. Very professional. I stay here whenever visitng NYC. They do have a small continential breakfast, but is just your basic stuff nothing fancy. NO eggs or anything. I just prefer takinga discount off my room over the continential b-fast. I usually grab a breakfast bagel sandwich from a store around the corner when I am going to the Ferry. Overall it is a great place to stay and make your home base when in NYC."
"Fort place B and B was great! Close to the Staten Island ferry so Manhattan was easy access. Paul was a great host, had breakfast at our door 7:30 am sharp both days! Couldn’t ask for a better host, hands off and very welcoming. If you choose fort place you won’t be disappointed and do yourself a favor check out Beso for some amazing food. It’s walking distance from the B and B."
"Great location to the Staten Island ferry. Grocery across the street. Nice European style breakfast included. Love the Pier 76 restaurant nearby for Italian food. A little noisy due to the street but fan in the room helped a lot. Definitely will stay here again."
"We came to NY only for a couple of days and needed something affordable. This B&B was a great fit for us. While the owner does have a little spot for parking, we were lucky to be able to find street parking right out front of the house without a problem and never received a ticket. Having the ferry only a short walk away was fabulous!!! We stayed on the top floor, which is a bit of a climb when you're carrying a large suitcase, but the rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable and bathroom was adequate. The breakfast wasn't the worst I've had but I thought could have offered some protein options like a hard boiled egg or peanut butter. It was quite warm when we were there (first week of August) but the AC units in each room worked well. Maybe because we were on the top floor or maybe because it was the weekend, we didn't have any trouble with outdoor noises while sleeping. My only complaints were the bathroom towels (very rough; they could use replacing) and the WiFi connection. I literally had to sit on the hallway stairs to get any sort of reception. After a long day of walking around, it would have been nice to relax with some TV and since the channel options weren't the best, I would have like to use my phone without having to gauge my data plan! Other than that, I thought the owner was nice and accommodating. And his artwork which was displayed throughout the house, added a nice, personal touch! I would recommend to others."
"A good way of economising on accommodation when visiting NYC. It takes about 40 minutes to get to Manhattan, and the ferry across the water is a nice way to start and end the day. I had a large clean room, shared bathroom (but with no one else on my floor to share it with). The street outside is rather noisy at night, so I wore ear-plugs. Breakfast is simple but ample."
