"Do not go to Lumsden McCormick for your tax-based needs. I am an employed healthcare worker with a new side business (established in late 2021) as well. I had appropriately prepared all of my documents and information (as requested within 1-2 weeks of the request by Brian Kern at Lumsden McCormick) by mid-February 2022 and uploaded them to the appropriate online locations while consistently sending Brian Kern updates via email. I received minimal to no communication from Brian Kern between this time and the normal tax deadline in April. After reaching out to him for an update on my current status, I received an email weeks later and was told that they were going to seek an “extension” since it was “best to do it accurate for year 1 rather than quick” per the words of Brian Kern via email. I understand it’s appropriate to be completely accurate and am always pushing for that, but I had prepared all of my information and documents by mid-February and expected to have my taxes filed by the normal deadline as usual with appropriate, professional communication and updates along the way. This was absolutely not how it went. I received no communication, updates, or alerts at all. I was shocked by the amount of unprofessional silence. I reached out again via email to Brian Kern on May 12 to ask for an update and did not receive a reply until May 19 saying that he (Brian Kern) had just gotten “back from vacation/conference circuits” and said he would “check on where things stand” and “get back” to me. He never got back to me. I reached out again on June 1 via email and via phone call (of course nobody answered and was sent to voicemail) without any response. I was then handed off to another individual, John Anderson, that supposedly works under Brian Kern. I was left weeks on end with unread messages. I was finally informed that things were being finalized after being reviewed internally. I finally received information and was able to sign off on tax filing for the year, but recently just received a letter in the mail requesting additional funds since the taxes were filed late (thanks to them) and that this company did not cover them. I was expected to cover the late fees. Unbelievably bad, and very little, communication throughout the entire process. Poor customer service. Absolutely miserable and stressful experience overall. Would recommend you stay far away from this company. Very disappointed."
"Good company and people. Recommend inquiring about their affordabllity of their services before engaging them for your business circumstances. For a small company their fee structure was be challenging."
