"We stayed in the "Writer's Room" George and Sandra have been renovating this building since they purchased it as a neglected building. They formerly owned an antique shop in Manhattan. The room was beautiful and spacious with a huge shower with two benches on either side. The breakfast was gourmet. Such attention to detail, we saw George clipping flowers from his garden to put on the table for us. The happy hour drinks and conversation were great as well. One night we had happy hour by the fire pit. It was so nice we ended up late for our dinner reservation. The location is great, we walked back and forth to town many times. Another couple took the train in from Brooklyn and had no issues just walking around."
"I'm joining all other reviewers with a perfect 5-star review. As far as B & B stays, it doesn't get any better. The location is perfect (4-minute walk to town and selection of excellent restaurants). Phenomenal innkeepers! The breakfast you get is "Michelin star" quality. There is an abundance of great walks, cultural, historic sites and activities in the area. The rooms are beautiful, cozy, mega spacious. Can't say enough great things about the Baker's and their B & B!"
"We normally stay in either Kingston or Rhinebeck for a few nights after dropping our twins off at camp in the area. After COVID put everything thing on hold, we were excited to get an opportunity to do this again. We were so happy we chose the Baker House in Rhinebeck for our stay. The B&B is located within walking distance of the center of town which makes it very convenient to avoid driving or worry about getting an Uber after a night in town. The house is beautiful and sits on a sizable property. Our hosts have done a wonderful job of renovating the house and grounds. We stayed in the 'Writer's Room's which was so spacious it should be called the 'Writer's Suite'. The room also had it's own private porch/deck. The bathroom was clean and had a large double shower. The room was such an oasis of relaxation for our stay. George and Sandra were wonderful hosts and offered nice additional touches. There was a happy hour and George provided some delicious cocktails each night as well as good conversation. Sandra's breakfasts were yummy. We appreciated their insight as far as where to eat and places to see in town. After a few years of not traveling, it was great to have such a positive experience to remind us how wonderful travel could be."
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Baker House, with great proximity to town. George and Sandra are the perfect hosts to ensure your comfort. Our “Gardner’s” Room was very neat, clean and quiet. We would highly recommend these accommodations to anyone anticipating a stay in Rhinebeck."
"My fiance and I stayed here a year ago, and had such an amazing time that I can't believe that we didn't leave a review earlier! First of all, the location is perfect! You can easily walk into town for a meal, or take short trip to see some amazing natural beauty or take in some history. Second of all- the food! I think it's the best Bed and Breakfast meal that we've ever had. The sourdough was unmatched perfection (I still dream about it), and the strudels and muffins we tasted were out of this world. Thirdly, the hosts were amazing; kind, friendly, engaging, hospitable, and full of obscure knowledge and great local recommendations. We could have spent hours chatting with George- he's a really fascinating guy! (I want to add here that the hosts clearly take their cue from you, and if you're not interested in chatting you can easily keep to yourself with no awkwardness). Fourth of all, the house and the grounds are really lovely and historical. You can tell the owners put so much thought into every decision made to retain the historical-ness of the house while also incorporating modern amenities. The room we stayed in was so soundproofed, no outside noises got in at all and I slept amazingly. Do yourself a favor and stay here for the weekend! You won't regret it."
