Reviews of Albany Med Community Division The Neurology Group
"Let me add to the sea of 1-star reviews. This place is a mess. -- When my wife first saw Dr. King, she explained the problems she was experiencing and he incorrectly summarized her concerns as if he wasn't listening at all. I guess it's good that he tried to recall back to her because otherwise she wouldn't have even known he didn't understand her concerns at all. She basically had to say it all again. -- After my wife got an MRI, a nurse (Suzanne) called her and incorrectly said she had "a mass" in her frontal lobe, even though Dr. King's summary (which we didn't have at the time) didn't mention a mass anywhere. My wife backed her up and said, "A mass? Is that the same thing as a brain tumor?", to which the nurse said, "Yes that would be, but I'll have to ask Dr. King about it." She called back 5 HOURS later and said Dr. King clarified that it was not a mass or a tumor -- with no apology. So in sum, a nurse (who should have never been calling and explaining MRI results with a patient in the first place) told my wife she has a brain tumor and then called back 5 hours later saying she doesn't. And didn't even apologize for letting us think she has a brain tumor all day. Dr. King never called to explain or apologize. -- In Dr. King's MRI summary letter, he says the MRI was "unremarkable" and contained "nothing of clinical concern", noting that there was no indication of seizures, which was what we were concerned about and looking for. We later saw his chart note, which says there's an indication of seizures. We have no idea why his note contradicts the MRI results letter he sent, which is the only thing we received. My wife has since changed to a neurology group at St. Peters. They also don't understand why Dr. King concluded there were no seizures in his letter, nor why a nurse would ever be calling a patient and discussing results at all, let alone incorrectly telling a patient they have a brain tumor (and then not apologizing for the error). Stay away if you want competence in any aspect of your care or follow up."
"The first appointment went fine. The staff was lovely and attentive. Home sleep study equipment was easy to use. I dropped it off the next day and heard nothing. After a few weeks, I called, ultimately leaving SIX voicemails, all of which went unreturned. A month after my study, I finally got someone on the phone who said that my case had been read by a doctor that morning (after a month) but that it would take a week and a half before someone could call me with results! Ridiculous and unprofessional!"
"Horrible , got an at home monitor and left a message I would be returning it the very next day . Got threatening phone calls . I told them I left a message I will be retuning the device after work , and I mentioned the discloser I signed gave me 36 hours after which I was told the police will be called by end of day today in direct conflict and violation to the discloser i signed . I will be withdrawing from all Albany med practices"
"This office is absolutely TERRIBLE. Dr. King specifically as well. I wish i could review this as -10 stars but unfortunately that’s not an option. I traveled to this office almost 2 hours away from my home after waiting to be seen for over 2 months and i accidentally went to the wrong office and when i finally arrived i was only 9 minutes late and the doctor refused to see me. NINE MINUTES. The receptionist was extremely rude as well. And i was the first appt of the day, there wasn’t one other person in the office. There was absolutely zero reasoning for denying to see me. I do not want to be affiliated with this office or doctor whatsoever! Never have i ever experienced such a thing in any of the many offices i have to go to. I explained how badly my health has been deteriorating due to my condition too and how important it was to be seen but they did not care at all."
"If I was able to give 0 stars I would. I have been a patient at this practice for many years to manage my epilepsy and migraines. Over the past couple of years, the office staff have been unbearable, unprofessional and uncompassionate. I originally had an appointment in July with a nurse practitioner that left the practice. My appointment was canceled and rescheduled for the following month, and that appointment was also canceled. I have had FIVE appointments canceled since then. July, August, September, October, and November. Two of those appointments were canceled by Dr. Hart without any explanation. I have called the office countless times to get a new appointment and was told that I am lucky to have the appointment I do in February. ( my original appointment was in July, 7 months without an appointment). I recently began fainting and hit my head twice, I waited in the ER for 9+ hours and was never seen by a physician. I have called the neurology office many times trying to get an appointment sooner so that I can be seen for this medical issue. They told me to go back to the ER or to urgent care if I was concerned about it. I have contacted Albany med patient advocacy group twice and they were unable to help with the neurology group because the office lied when they contacted them. I wouldn’t wish this office on my worst enemy. PLEASE FIND A DIFFERENT NEUROLOGIST!!!!!"
