"Hi all, I wanted to introduce myself and give my feedback on the Weight Zero program with Dr. Aastha Kalra. I was diagnosed in mid March with Type 2 Diabetes. I had been pre-diabetic for many years prior. I also had gestational diabetes when pregnant with my son 30 years ago. When I got the news from my PCP, I was devastated to say the least. More like sick to my stomach. After my initial shock wore off I began to research my options. My doctor wanted me to come in right away and get put on meds and talk about lifestyle changes. That was a big NO for me. I DID NOT want to go on any medication if I could help it. In researching books on Amazon on diabetes, I came across a book called The Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung. It had great reviews and I immediately downloaded it to my Kindle. As I started reading it, I realized it made so much sense what he was saying about it being diet related. So I began to have hope. Since much of the advice involved fasting I knew this was something I needed to be under a doctors care for initially. I went on his website for his clinic IDM and I saw a link for a Physician's Network and wondered if there was anyone in my area. Sure enough I found Dr. Kalra. I immediately called her and we talked for almost an hour about my diagnosis. I was able to have an appointment with her the next day and she put me on a specific protocol of eating keto and fasting while using an app to track my macros. Fast forward to today, nearly 3 months later and I am a totally different person!! I've lost almost 40 lbs, just over 36 inches overall and dropped 4 pants sizes. I cannot believe that this has really happened. It has truly been a miracle!!! More importantly than the weight loss is the fact that all my numbers are way down in the normal ranges now. I get my A1c results this week, but I know they will be good also! For the first 4 weeks or so I fasted 3 times a week for 40 hours each time. The rest of the days I followed a 16/8 routine eating twice during those time periods. I ate strict keto, and measured everything including my water and salt intake. My blood sugar numbers actually went so low that I backed off on the heavy duty fasting and now do a 40 and 36 hour fast twice a week. I still do the 16/8 eating window (keto/lchf) the rest of the time and I'm still losing weight. But more importantly, I feel so healthy now. I didn't realize how bad I felt before. I am so grateful for finding out about this way of caring for myself and for the wonderful support of Dr. Kalra."
