"If you are looking for a short term rental around Oswego, I highly recommend the Beacon Hotel. It is located at a very convenient spot, near many restaurants, coffee shop, and easy access to the farmers market. The hotel itself was also very nice, clean, and quite. Julie, the hotel management, is always friendly and helping the guests out!"
"Very cozy, and clean, located walking distance from restaurants and a convenience store. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was helpful and polite. We checked out and accidentally left some personal items behind. Within 10 minutes, the owner called us to let us know and we were able to circle back and get our things. Highly recommend if you are looking for something more personal and family-feeling than the usual large corporate hotel chain!"
"We only had one night in Oswego, but I'm glad we spent it here. The room was clean and comfortable. The desk clerk was friendly and suggested several possible nearby restaurants for what amounted to a late supper. The hotel is within walking distance to the downtown. If we had more time for exploring, I'm sure we would've taken advantage of that. It was nice to stay at a locally owned hotel for a change."
"Staff was super friendly, I forgot to iron my dress shirt prior to leaving home and they were able to provide one for me. Rooms are very nice! Hotel is very secure, nice and quiet. Very close to downtown and was able to walk there in a few short minutes. Continental Breakfast had many options to choose from. Wifi was excellent which helped with last minute preparations I had to do. Lounge area has many places to sit, a nice electric fireplace, books to read, and a Large TV easy to see from anywhere in the lounge. I am already planning another stay here for leisure in one of their upgraded rooms. Highly Recommended!"
"This was my first and LAST stay at the Beacon Hotel. Being that COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on small businesses as well as the hospitality industry, I decided to choose this family-owned hotel compared to its local “brand name” competitors. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel itself was clean and comfortable. But WOW does poor service leave a bad taste in your mouth. The website states “late check-out is available upon request”… but DO NOT bother requesting. Because as the manager and other front desk agent said and I quote “absolutely no exceptions”. Being that check out is at 10AM, an hour earlier compared to the other hotels in the area, I didn’t think this would be this much of an issue. However, the amount of attitude and insolence that was received upon asking this question was downright uncalled for. I nicely asked and received a no. Knowing that nothing is for free in life, I even offered to pay a fee or a half-days-rate as I felt that would be fair… but was given a snippy “no” and essentially scolded. Having been educated and having years of experience in hospitality, I was utterly disgusted and ashamed by the treatment from the staff. I visit Oswego, NY frequently, as well as several friends. I’ll be sure to make them aware of how they will be condescendingly treated upon choosing this establishment."
