Reviews of Rocking Horse Ranch Resort
"My family has visited this resort 4 times over the past 2 years and have loved it every time. It has fantastic food (especially dinner), well-maintained facilities with a lot of fun activities during both winter and summer, and the staff is phenomenal. Great staff is what makes a resort memorable. One snow/mountain tubing staff member that sticks out to us is Emily, who always ran up and gave my daughter a warm hug, remembered her name, and was very sweet and caring to her all throughout all of our stays. My daughter can't wait to see her again next year! Thanks for everything, Emily!"
"Our kids, 4 and 6 years old, LOVE coming to Rocking Horse Ranch. The ski equipment and instruction were all included and this was the perfect place as first time skiers to learn to ski. There is so much to do when they get tired from skiing - snow tubing, pool, water slides, huge indoor/outdoor hot tub, laser tag, ice skating, pony rides, bowling, arcade games. The nightly shows were even better this year than last year. Food is really quite good for an all inclusive. Feels like being on a cruise ship with all the offerings. Service was excellent particularly in the dining hall - super attentive! Each year it seems they make improvements and additions. Ex. New railing added for safety and ease to get from ski shop to slope. Upgraded laser tag guns and equipment. One negative is shortening the laser tag hours. It got ridiculously crowded at opening and nobody to manage the line. Resulted in 2 teenagers cutting the entire line and even when they were called out staff shrugged and did nothing about it. 2 families with little kids had been waiting a long time. Soured our experience. The only other complaint I have are the rooms. The walls are paper thin and the beds aren’t very comfortable. They are very clean though and it suffices for a long weekend."
"I came upon the Rocking Horse Ranch when I Googled winter family getaway. We are from Florida and wanted to see snow. I am so happy I found this gem. The staff was incredible! Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and professional. The front desk showed us all RHR offered upon check in and were very helpful, the dining experience was delicious, and all the activities were super fun with helpful people to guide us on how to ski, go tubing, and ice skating. The room was clean and comfortable. We asked for extra pillows and blankets and the staff brought them right away. I loved the theme of the room. The arcade and gaming room was great entertainment for my kids to wind down after being outside all day. There was just so much to do! The indoor pool was such a treat and the heated pool was great to just relax in. The lifeguards were very attentive and friendly. The changing rooms were very clean. The food was delicious and the waitstaff were friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately my oldest son had gotten sick and we couldn’t make dinner on our last night. The dining hall called to inquire about our reservations. When I informed them we wouldn’t be dining in because he was ill they offered to bring something to our room. The service was just outstanding. We cannot wait to go back and are already considering our next winter vacation there!"
"Great place! Coming from Orlando area, we were hoping to catch some snow even though we knew it was a little early. Mother Nature did not entirely cooperate, but the staff sure did make it special. They ran the snow machines and there was a light white haze across the property. My kids were still able to make snowballs and play around in the snow they had made. I thought with no snow this trip would be a bust, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. They ice skated, rode horses, rock climbed, played lazer tag and putt putt, went in the pool and hot tub. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was great. I was particularly impressed that a place with animals and people coming in and out was so clean! Bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas were all very clean. The place had a warm and cozy, home like feel. It was only an hour and a half train ride from the city and they picked us up from the train station! Our kids enjoyed the city, but all they ask us about is when they can go back to Rocking Horse Ranch!"
"This is a good facility overall and it has many fun activities to enjoy. We went in Dec right before Christmas in winter. Here are the things we tried. 1. animals seeing; 2. Pony ride. A very big 'Pony' in there carrying kids. :); 3. Mountain tubing. Pretty fun and a little scary while turning around; 4. Bungee trampoline. Kid jumped twice; 5. Rock climbing; 6. Ice skating. It is fun to get on ice. Just WAY TOO small; 7. Rifle shooting and archery. Indoor side, we tried water play pools and hot springs. Kids loved the pool a lot. Fitness center we did not use; Food side, we loved the dinner a lot(strip and steak) and they were really well cooked. Lunch buffet is just ok, nothing impressive. Snack time is a good too. It has crackers, chips with guacamole, cheeses, small bits and fruits etc.(A little thing is guacamole was too sour. First day was sour then second day the same). We also watched two night shows and they were excellent(magician tricks). A little downside is ski is advertised on the website for winter activities but there was nothing. We even brought our poles and planned to have kids to enjoy the snow. We stayed two nights and heard there will be snow tomorrow. We thought to check with the front desk on sleeping somewhere else and then let us just enjoy at least half day. The front desk lady said check for us, then there is another lady came out immediately, in a poker face, with a tone of defense saying 'NO, we do not guarantee anything and we have it on website that nothing guaranteed. Ski is weather permitted and sometimes we close it too'. I immediately felt it won't be a productive conversation if I continue. Well, there is nothing on the website you have NOT made any snow. I believe 'SKI trail NOT made' is different from 'unpredicted force'. At least there could be a message on the website stating opening date, right? Also from customer servicing perspective, some empathy will help there as well."
