Reviews of Key Food Urban Marketplace
"On 10/5/23, Fernando, the key food manager, of 130 7th ave, restored my faith in humanity! On this day, In the evening we made our monthly shopping and requested deliveries services. After checking out, we proceeded to run some errands and therefore missed two attempts to receive our delivery. We arrived home and the groceries were not delivered. I called the store and was informed by staff that home delivery had ended, for the day! I requested to speak to the manager, Fernando, who shared that he had put our perishable away in a freezer, to my dismay, he cheerfully agreed to deliver our groceries after closing the store at 11pm, which he did and vehemently and pleasantly refused a tip!! Thank you Don Fernando, for the privilege of such a humbling experience!!"
"I don't live in the neighborhood, but this was my go to store. On different occasions, I've gotten home to open the meat, and find that the expiration date had passed by at least 2-3 days, and it already had a not so fresh smell. Today, I purchased a Snapple. Tasted funny. Then I looked at it in the light and saw that it left a ring, and the sediment was floating all around in it. Checked the expiration date, it expired April 2023. This was most likely my last visit to this Key Food."
"When I went there 5/30 around 8pm after work, there was one cashier - and I had to go to self-checkout. It is absolutely horrible for seniors and people with disabilities. There’s nowhere to put your heavy basket while you are unloading it. Unless you count a tiny shelf. Then you have to scan it one-by-one. I’m trying to hold a heavy pocketbook, scan things, put them in the bag on the other side without them falling on the floor, looking up the produce items…Hell! You might as well get paid and work there if you’re juggling all this after a day at work! Someone could be a senior with an injured foot or other medical issues. I was very unhappy. Do the owners of these places have any clue about their customers? I’m avoiding them from now on - and going to places that show warmth and understanding for seniors, people with disabilities, and simply the many people who are exhausted. Everywhere you go you feel like you’re being ripped off. And on top of that, they make your shopping experience bad. They will be losing a lot of customers with their lack of sensitivity to the needs of a broad base of potential customers. Instead they’d rather blame the customers. We pay a lot for our groceries. We should not be treated like zeroes. And it starts with the way the owners and managers set the tone. They’d rather have customers do self-checkout than do what it takes to hire, train and retain employees. The problem is with top management and owners—NOT employees!"
"One of the only supermarkets left in Parkslope. Store is very clean. Been shopping here for over 40 years. Have never seen prices as high as they are today."
"Love it. Has a good variety of imported products such as Harina P.A.N. The customer service was nice and polite. They have a good variety of pastries, handmade bread and also sell prepared food."
