Reviews of Baby Steps infant care and child care - Baby Steps Daycare and Preschool
"My daughter has been attending the infant program since it opened in October 2022. We have had an excellent experience at Baby Steps. The teachers are lovely and caring, and are super responsive when communicating with parents. They have a curriculum with various topics each week and fun activities and games around each subject. My daughter has learned a ton these last few months - her ABCs, counting, songs, interactive games - we saw big steps in her development. I highly recommend the daycare, specifically the infant program."
"I had my son on the waiting list at Baby Steps for several months, so was extremely excited when they opened. My son is 21 months old - happy, but active and does require special services (i.e. speech therapy & OT). To give you some background, around 2 weeks into being at the center, the director of the school asked me how I thought my child was doing in the class? I said, you tell me? This was the first time I was hearing of any concerns and/or issues. She recommended he be moved into the younger class because she thought he would do better there. I said of course, whatever you think will be best for him. He moved into the owlets class, where the teachers are very nice. Every day I would ask the teachers how he was? I would get the same reply, great - he is transitioning nicely! He does have some body awareness issues and is active, but we love him and he is doing great. Flash forward to yesterday, we get a call that he climbed out of his crib and hit his head. This of course is a safety hazard, but normal development for his age. His teacher also said she would like to talk, but not today, tomorrow. I asked if it was serious, she said let's talk tomorrow. Today, I received a call from the director after I had already dropped my son off to ask how I was doing since talking to the teacher. I said, what do you mean? She only told me he fell out of the crib. The director then said, I don't think this is the right environment for your son and just like that he was kicked out. While I do understand there are other kids in the class and I am sure they have their own protocols, the lack of communication beforehand is what is so disappointing to me. I feel like we were blind sided and not given the proper heads up. If they had said, hey he's becoming a bit much for the teachers and he requires more attention than we can give, let's assess and decide if this is the right environment then I would be OK. It was also very clear that the director did not talk to her teachers. I would have appreciated a more personal conversation and more realistic updates on a daily basis. I hope that this is a learning experience for the center to be more transparent with their parents. It makes me sad to write this because I do think the teachers were very kind and nurturing, but I would not recommend this center for anyone with a child that is slightly behind/delayed and/or active."
"Our son is now in his second year at Babysteps and has thrived there since the day he started. The teachers and Program Director are exceptional and very responsive whenever needed. Its comforting to find a day care center where you can drop your kids off for the day knowing that they are in good hands. We look forward to sending our other 2 kids there when the time comes."
"This daycare is one of the best in the neighborhood. My son has been attending this daycare for a little over a year and we couldn't be happier. Each child receives individual attention. The teachers and the director of the daycare make sure that all kids are supported in their developmental process. We constantly get feedback from the teachers on how our son is doing. The care itself is very neat and properly maintained. I recommend this daycare to all, you will be pleased!"
"My son has been attending since 2 years old and now he is 4 going on 5 soon(in 3 months). He has developed many skills attending this Daycare such as his alphabets, numbers, colors, shapes and writing/reading his name especially. Julia has always been attentive and is quick to respond. Communication through text and email has been excellent. All his teachers are wonderful to him and my son has made many friends which has helped with his social skills as well. Overall this center is wonderful and more importantly, it has been a great and positive experience for my son. We thank you for taking good care of our son. In regards to the application process, spots are not guaranteed since Baby Steps offer the courtesy to wait for the attending students to confirm when they are officially leaving. I have at some point told baby steps about leaving (moved to LI) and then changed my mind which Julia was nice to let me stay though she had applicants patiently waiting. Please be understanding of the process because keep in mind the same courtesy will be extended to you and when it does, you will be appreciative. I was fortunate enough to have my son attend as soon as he was two because the business just had opened not too long before but I can now imagine it would be more difficult since baby steps has built up a strong reputation. I wish the future parents luck and if lucky enough to get your child in the school, I guarantee, you and your child will be very happy."
