"My biggest regret after coming here in the first place is not leaving sooner. Going here is fine if nothing is wrong with your pet but my senior diabetic dog recently displayed obvious symptoms of Cushing’s disease and I was dismissed by the dr. In fact, when I asked if it could be that, he chose to use a bunch of medical terms I would never understand as an example of why she couldn’t have Cushing’s (she does). They asked me to bring my own urine sample from my dog the next morning and wrote in her record that I refused; I had already made an appt at another vet who was able to quickly and correctly diagnose and treat my dog. Dr. Marlow verbatim said “this is so unusual, I don’t know what could be causing this, what do you want to do” during two appointments in regard to my dogs insulin resistance. Wasted nearly a month of our time in not diagnosing her correctly. And I see Four Paws responding here blaming people saying they couldn’t afford the recommended treatment because this place is wildly expensive and in our case money was never an issue, I’d pay anything for my dog to feel better, so that certainly wasn’t the problem here. So what was it? The dr recommended seeing an internist and I’ve heard him and the staff recommended that to other patients as well. This should have never been that difficult and I should not have had to watch my dog suffer in distress for an easily diagnosable and treatable disease that I was able to figure out myself with a basic google search. - I see your response and I said I declined because you failed to take the appropriate steps in diagnosis prior to that conversation of me asking and I had already found a new vet. I also said it’s fine to be a patient if nothing is wrong for which it wasn’t until this past year we hit obstacles in my dogs health including when she needed emergency surgery and you cost $1300 in testing for us to be told your reports were nebulous."
"Thank you Dr. Marlow! It is a great pleasure to have a doctor and staff that truly care not only for our fur babies but also is compassionate with our feelings. It is so hard to find a doctor that doesn't treat you like a meal ticket! I truly recommend Dr Marlow 100%."
"Beware!!!! Dr. Marlow and staff is only in it for the money and is so passive aggressive! The receptionist is rude. They just want your money!! They do not care about your animals!!!! I feel terribley for other pet owners who have had a terrible experience here and hope their fur babies got the care they deserve. I will NEVER go here again and will ALWAYS tell people to run far away from this horrible joke of a “veterinary hospital”. Close your doors already!!!!"
"I have been brining my dog here for years and the care and patience Dr. Marlow provides is exceptional! The receptionist are always so welcoming and helpful too which makes for a warm enviornment! Great vet!"
"I had taken my cat to four paws for about 3 years because they were so close to home I could walk. I never felt fully trusting of the care I was receiving and unfortunately the incident that finally got me to leave was an emergency that they couldn’t fit me in for. Since leaving I’ve received more attentive, patient and knowledgeable care than I ever did with Four Paws. There are many instances I could go into that left me feeling untrusting of the care I was receiving but the main thing that is most concerning is this: After switching vets I got routine bloodwork to check my cats kidneys so we could continue an allergy medication we were trying. The bloodwork came back and while the kidneys were fine, he had extremely high levels of white blood cells (lymphocytes,) near 15000. This is extremely concerning. Now, about a year and a half ago I was going to get a teeth cleaning at four paws so we did routine bloodwork to test his kidneys. I was told everything was fine. My new vet requested his old bloodwork panel to compare lymphocyte levels. Under dr. Marlow’s care his levels were even HIGHER, reaching 16,000. Clearly, his bloodwork wasn’t fully examined. Besides the facts, In my experience, I felt that at times dr. Marlow came off as condescending and passive aggressive. And Jackie at the front was quite abrasive as well. I wasn’t going to include this in my review but I have a feeling I’m not the only person to feel this way and I want to let you know it’s not in your head. If you have a feeling you aren’t getting adequate care or that there has to be something else that can be done or any inkling at all, please leave and seek a different vet. I wish I had sooner. In response to the response from the owner : I am also very happy I changed vets as well. I take my cat now to Island Rescue in bayshore and the care is extremely thorough and feels heart centered. When I took my cat to four paws the appointments felt rushed, I had to ASK for dr Marlow to check his ears, he didn’t take my cats temperature, I’m telling you his examinations were bare minimum. After several appts of getting my cats symptoms treated, dr Marlow gave some options to go to a dermatologist to get allergy testing but explained it is very expensive and at the end of the day sometimes not always effective. The X-rays that he recommended were to diagnose asthma which he also explained that is sometimes not even an effective way to diagnose asthma as it’s elusive, sometimes showing up and sometimes not. Cost of treatments has been a concern for me but I never said I had “no money.” I have now been going through with X-rays and bloodwork with my new vet because we now need to rule out lymphoma due to such high levels of lymphocytes. Levels that dr Marlow failed to examine in the bloodwork we had done for him under his “care.”"
