"I brought my parent’s cat in and saw Dr. Goldberg. My parents cat (my cat when I lived at home but when I moved out she stayed because she’s an outdoor cat and I didn’t want her to get lost in a new neighborhood and I lived near a main road so it wasn’t safe for her to move with me) lost a lot of weight over the last year. My parents had not taken her to the vet. I finally did. Dr. Goldberg had a serious and deadpan way about her or at least she did with me and I think her bedside manner could use improvement. I was clearly concerned about my cat enough to make time to travel to my parent’s home and take her to the vet to sort out what’s going on with her. Dr. Goldberg told me of the ailments matter of factly without any comfort or explanation of next steps or possibilities or care options. Then she asked questions like if I can bring the cat to live with me and if my cat is prescribed medicine will my parents actually commit to giving her the medicine which I didn’t think any of this was her business or her right to ask. My cat had no claw on one of her paws because she’s an outdoor cat- she can get on the roof of the garage, for example and Dr. Goldberg called me over to show me the stub where the nail should be and it felt judgmental like I somehow should be doing more to prevent that but she’s an outdoor cat?? It felt inappropriate. Maybe it would have felt different if she approached it with more sensitivity. Clearly I got involved to ensure my cat gets the care she needs. It’s not anyone’s business but my mom was sick the last year and passed away in September and there was a lot happening which is no excuse for my cat not going to the vet but it felt insensitive. I felt judged and shamed meanwhile I’m the one taking action to find a solution for my cat. I think bedside manner is really important for health offices because such sensitive topics are being handled. I’ll be returning here because they have my all the current info for my cat but I’ll be requesting a different doctor."
"One of the receptionists from this hospital is extremely rude, & will prevent you from getting the help you need. All while giving you a terrible attitude & judging you for your pet parenting. Almost every response they gave me was some form of sarcasm, or demeaning me. They do not know how to talk to people at all and will do whatever they can to get you to come in to spend $900 and be sent home with no medication and told its behavioral. I understand the whole “we can’t help you over the phone” thing, but to be on that much of a power trip as a receptionist is seriously something else! You are in charge of animal lives being saved & you choose this way to project your insecurities onto others! Just wild to me… Also, whenever I go to another vet, and I ask West Hempstead to send over files, they were called & reminded (by myself and the other vet) about 5 times over the course of 2 days. It was purely ridiculous, & completely unprofessional to keep my sick pet waiting because of vital records not being transferred…. Now let us patiently wait for them to reply with some gaslighting victim information about how they told me so & so & gave options but i refused to understand and cursed at them instead etc."
"I’ve been taking my dogs here for many years. I love all of the vets and staff here. They take great care of my dogs."
"We’re new to Long Island and had to find a new veterinarian for our 14-year-old kitten, Olivia. My wife Kelly brought Olivia in yesterday for her first visit and to establish care. They saw Dr. Conway-Bilello and could not be happier with the care Olivia received and their experience, overall, with the practice. Dr. Conway was extremely thorough, knowledgeable, kind, patient, and compassionate. She explained everything clearly and answered all questions. The entire staff was equally excellent — from the beginning when we called to make the appointment and through yesterday from their arrival and for the entirety of the visit. We’re really happy with our experience at West Hempstead Animal Hospital, with Dr. Conway, and with the entire staff. Thank you!"
"I brought my 18 year old cat Remy to be euthanized, after a brutal battle with cancer. The veterinarian and staff were very respectful and made me feel comfortable. They made a clay impression of her paw as a momento. I highly recommend their office for all veterinary services."
