"Once again, horrified my wife by forgetting to leave my $300 folding knife at home. Strutted through TSA precheck line at LAX, only to find said knife in my back pocket. Saw the Mail Safe Express box, figured it had a 50-50 chance of being a scam... but with no options, filled out the paperwork and kissed that baby goodbye. I later realized I didn't even keep my copy of the paperwork, that knife was as good as gone. Several weeks later, got an email that my knife was shipped from North Carolina and I received it a few days after that. Totally worth the money, great idea and service!"
"I was about to walk into the TSA line at the Raleigh-Durham Airport and realized I was still carrying a treasured pocket knife I had carried most of my military career and was a gift from my late veteran wife. I was relieved to see the Mail Safe Express box just outside of TSA and knew this was my ticket to keeping my knife safe. I filled out the paperwork and dropped the knife into the envelope and into the box it went. A month later, I had not heard anything from Mail Safe Express and decided to call. The lady was nice and made sure all of my information was correct. They had transposed my email address but we fixed that and I received the confirmation email that the shipping label had been created and the USPS tracking number had been issued. I thought, anytime now… But that’s where it ends. The package was never picked up and acknowledged by the USPS and when there was no update to the tracking status for over 2 weeks, I called Mail Safe Express to get a status. Their response made me less than hopeful that I would ever see my treasured knife ever again. I dropped the knife in the bin at RDU the first week of August and the tracking number continues to show “label created, awaiting pickup”. The customer service shifted very quickly from very helpful to “not our problem”. I opened an investigation with the USPS who told me the label was never scanned into their system and that the item was most likely still with the shipper. At this point, I am certain any type of request for further checking into this situation with Mail Safe Express will end up with the next chapter of “not our problem”. My advice is to stay far away from this (dis)service as I am certain there is a Mail “Safe” Express employee walking around with a green Smith & Wesson assisted opening knife in their pocket. Thieves!"
"I panicked when I hit the security line. A friend had given me a really expensive pocket knife for my 50th birthday and I forgot to put it in my checked bag. I told the TSA person that I had it on me and didn't want to lose it. He pointed me in the direction of the Mail Safe box. What a relief! I think it cost $20, and within 2.5 weeks I had my knife back. Great company and great customer service!"
"You folks rescued me from either losing an expensive item or the exorbitant cost of having to pay for a checked bag each way!! When TSA told me I had two choices, check it or try to mail it home – I jumped at the chance. The agent walked me over to the kiosk at SeaTac Airport and found my item was just under the weight limit and just fit in the plastic bag. Whew! Says I! Then YESTERDAY, there was a call to my wife from the bank saying the charge was declined. I’m not sure why, but I called Mail Safe Express right away. In a matter of no more than 10 minutes the situation was sorted out. Laura even greeted me by name when I called the second time where she informed me the charge went through successfully. Today, my item was in my mailbox! You guys ROCK!!! Thank you - from a traveler who learned his lesson – yard sale the bag before packing!! Best regards, Martin"
"Honestly these homies saved my bacon. The TSA took my camera film because it "tested positive for explosives" or some nonsense. Anyway, I put dozens of rolls of film in the mystery mail box at the airport. The mail box had no way to confirm payments or anything. I thought for sure it was gone forever. One week later, I received a lovely email from an employee at MailSafe confirming my information. What a damn relief! They mailed it out and sent over a tracking number. While I haven't gotten the film back yet, their customer service was fantastic."
