Reviews of Dentzel Carousel
"Hand painted carousel animals are a beautiful & well preserved slice of nostalgia"
"This carousel was made in 1905 and all handcarved. The ticket price is 1.00 per ride or 5.00 all day. The bottom row is stationary and the upper two rows move up and down. There's a number of different animals that you can ride on. The bottom also has a carriage. There's carousel music of the age."
"What a great find at the Port of Rochester! The Dentzel Menagerie Carousel is a charming carousel that is historic. This carousel was made Gustav Dentzel who was located in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA. The carousel is housed in the original building and it is back in action after being closed for the pandemic. Great to see this beauty in action and looks like great fun for the kids and adults alike."
"Great way to turn back the hands of time and enjoy a ride on the nostalgic merry go round at Dentzel Carousel at Ontario Beach Park"
"I grew up in Charlotte in the 1950's and 1960's spending many happy hours at the beach with my friends. I remember the bath house where you could rent a locker for a dime as I remember. You could change into your swim suit and keep your clothes in a locker. Your locker key was on an elastic band you could wear on your wrist. After spending the day on the beach you could ride the bumper cars or the merry-go-round. The merry-go-round had a device where you could reach out and catch a ring to throw at a bell. If you were lucky enough to catch a brass ring, you got a free ride merrry-go- round. The one song I remember being played at the merry-go-round was Kansas City by Wilbert Harrison. What an idyllic time to grow up. If you were lucky enough to have 15 cents at the end of the day, you could have an Abbott's Custard."
