"We go every year to enjoy Yuletide in the Country & the dinner afterwards. It never fails to delight! This year we’re taking the entire extended family. We purchased a membership specifically for this reason."
"Amazing experience with my sister and our children! We all learned so much about this area. What a beautiful museum outdoor area gift shop. This was such a beautiful experience. Worth it for sure!"
"Wonderful pioneer country village, all buildings can be entered, period clothed interpreters at most buildings, lots of great historical information and displays, items available for purchase in the bakery building -they were delicious! Exhibits were amazing! Special weekend events. Great place!"
"We spent all day (10-4) at the village with our 3 kids (15/12/10) and visited every open building. The setting feels like a real village, and you can tell a lot of effort goes into maintaining the beyildings and property. The kids were able to push a cart and follow a staff member around to help feed hay to some of the farm animals. A staff member greeted us inside almost every open building and explain the history of the building and the job of each business. Some of the demonstrarions included: shoes being made, yeast being milled for beer, tin being puched, wood being made into barrels, forging of iron, pottery being made on the wheel, wool being brushed and spun on a spinning wheel, food being prepared on an iron stove. In the homes, they told the history of the family and talked about the furnishings. All were dressed in period clothing and very knowledgeable. Lunch at The Depot was delicious. Better burgers and buns than most places. Their fries were some of the best we've had, and their sweet potato fries were to die for. If you like fudge, their is the real deal. The gift shop has a variety of flavors. My kids love history and experiential activities. They rated the experience a 100%!"
"Absolutely fantastic day there. Lots of things to see and do. If you are interested in historical buildings and lifestyles, this is the place. Reasonably priced and affordable. Be aware, there is a lot of walking involved and some hills to climb. Saw some older people in scooters navigating pretty well, but they can’t get into some buildings."
