Reviews
"There is much that can be improved. As the person accompanying the patient, there is a distinct message that the disease will progress regardless of any effort, and therefore nothing really matters anymore. There is no discussion of new technological advances in this area, options for clinical trials, or even modalities for mitigation of pain, and improvement in quality of the remaining life."
"Dr. Andrew D. Seidman was my mother's oncologist for the last year+ of her life. While I truly believe that he does possess superior cancer diagnosis and treatment skills, his bedside manner and ability to listen to a patient's concerns is somewhat lacking. My mother complained for weeks about an inability to lie down, catch her breath and sleep. These concerns were dismissed as inconsequential and she was diagnosed with bursitis, without a single diagnostic test to confirm. We later learned that she had been living for more than a month with a collapsed lung caused by a massive build up of fluid in her chest cavity. She was x-rayed at our local emergency room, not MSKCC. She was treated at MSKCC for this, but not offered any pain medication for the procedure which left her screaming in agony. As if the terminal cancer were not enough, the brush-off she received from him on her next visit were especially difficult for all of us to navigate. Want a proficient oncologist with zero bedside manner? He's your guy."
