Reviews of Samaritan Counseling Center
"I cannot comment on the quality of their care because they couldn’t be bothered to respond to the three phone calls and voicemails I left over a period of three days. If you’re not accepting new patients, I would suggest to put that info right there at the top of your home page. I’m glad this wasn’t an emergency."
"You cannot get an appointment here. I left so many messages and never once received a call back. After a month of this, I called every day on my lunch break (which changed every day, so it's not like our breaks just matched up). EVERY day for seven business days, I called. Seven phone calls and no one picked up. I left my email and requested an email address so we could set up an appointment that way. Nope. I even showed up to the building. It was nearly 5 o'clock but I was hoping someone might be there. There were folks there, but probably just therapists working late/chatting. Reception was a ghost town. I had my mom call them because she was unemployed at the time. She managed to get an answer, but they said my mom couldn't schedule an appointment for me. So I guess the only way I could make an appointment was to quit my job and make getting an appt with these people my new career. Is that what it takes to get an appt here? It made me feel so hopeless that I couldn't even do the one thing people suggest when you're depressed. "Talk to a therapist." But I was ignored. And that was so discouraging and isolating. Worse yet, this was my family's go to place for counseling. My mom saw a therapist here for many many years and I saw a therapist here for a couple years. Anyway, both of our therapists moved on to their own practices at different times, so we stopped coming here. One thing led to another and years later, I was looking for a new therapist. I went to Samaritan's first. And I wasted a lot of time. Never again. You can't treat people like that. Especially not people who are already overwhelmed and mustering the courage to ask for help. It's terrible to call yourself a counseling center when you choose to ignore people instead of finding a better way to help them. Advice: If you can't afford an employee to answer the phones, create a way for patients to make appointments online or message their therapist directly. If none of your therapists are accepting patients, put that on the answering machine. If your therapists handle their own scheduling, TELL people that. Give numbers of those therapists. Honestly, I'm shocked this place manages to get patients."
"Would give them no stars if I could. Don’t even know how their services are because I could never get an appointment for my daughter. Called the first time and they said 4-6 weeks but they were going to send paperwork to fill out. Filled out the paperwork online, 4-6 weeks came and went without a call. Gave them a couple more weeks and then began to call weekly, left a message every week and not a single call back. Hate to think about people in crisis that they never get back to."
"Buyer beware!! I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression due to loss of my wife and combat stress. Counselor was okay but never referred me to an authority on this psychiatric disorder. The Doctor tried but failed to walk the extra mile and consequently I continued to suffer in silence painfully and recently walked away from a dream job due to a severe anxiety and PTSD event. Prior to this I should have been referred to an expert dealing with my disorder and prescribed something to balance my mental condition."
"I'm so thankful for the people at Samaritan, they are helpful, considerate, thorough, and we've always had a very positive experience with any of the staff. Hard to get in touch with at times, especially this Covid-19 issue, but we are so thankful for all they have done for us..."
