"Don't waste your time. Poor management, bad trainers, and nothing gets fixed. Soap may or may not be available in the locker rooms; the same goes for paper towels. Employees/trainers are more likely chatting with a friend or each other than keeping the place running. Machines are broken for months on end, and some are still being used in their unsafe condition. Nothing is inspected, ever. Their monthly fee and yearly fee just keep going up. And no, they don't notify you of any price changes. There's fees on top of your regular monthly fee now as well. So it's not even cheap anymore. Look elsewhere. It's a sinking ship."
"I originally rated this establishment 5 stars. It used to be one of the better gyms in Middletown. Read to the end before signing up. Fast forward to the present day, this is by far the worst gym in Middletown... and that's saying a lot compared to Pizza Planet For starters, there are countless inoperable machines at any given time. When the issues are brought up to staff, various excuses are given, and resolution is far and few between. Equipment has not been inspected in what feels like since opening day, and the lack of inspection is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Some of the current issues include: Bolts are missing from the base of the power half hour row machine, the triceps push down is missing its sticker regarding safety, the knee extension machine has mismatched bolts holding it together, the Smith machines are missing the safety catch to stop 360 spin of the bar, the movable benches are often loose, the hip thrust is missing the nonslip mat, cable machines are improperly lubricated. Secondly, soap in the bathroom is rarely filled, paper towels are often empty, and the machines for the paper towels are always broken or jammed. Staff members are rarely found keeping the gym tidy, weights are found all over the ground, the tanning machines are filthy, the bathrooms often have toilet paper sitting on top of the dispenser instead of inside and a sink in the women's bathroom is clogged. It's a shame that even cleanliness is not a top priority. Lastly, many of the staff members are completely unprofessional and lacking training. I witnessed an employee threaten a gym member, staff is often found on their cellphones or with headphones on, soap and paper towels are found empty for the 2 hours I am at the gym and go without being checked. Few front desk employees fail to exchange pleasantries during the comings and goings of gym members. Trainers need to be desperately reeducated because safety is thrown out the window. The black bars, known as deadlift bars, are not to be used for benching and/or squatting, and I have seen countless trainers using black bars for squatting/benching. There is no correction that he incorrect bar is being used and is unsafe to use for certain exercises. Trainers struggle to provide proper guidance to their clients, form is often incorrect and borderline dangerous, they use multiple machines at one time and don't offer work-ins...especially during busy times. Please offer respect to all patrons, not just those paying for personal training. Following all of the issues, I canceled my membership. Charging $2 fee on top of your monthly thy fee without notifying your customers is shameful. Paying $15.99 a month for a bunch of busted dirty machines is not worth it. This is not the same Crunch Fitness from 3 years ago, when I started. Take the time to read your other negative reviews, or barking patrons won't be the only reason you lose customers. So, to all you reading this review that were thinking of joining this dump... Save your energy for your workouts and choose a different gym."
"Please be aware when you sign up or cancel membership from this gym. I walked in 8/8 around 6pm to cancel the membership. I was notified about 30 day cancellation policy and was told that I will be paying for two months. I was given instruction that my last day to use the gym will be Oct 2nd. They billed me on Oct 3rd so I called them and told them I cancelled but they are saying it is not documented on their end. I couldn’t even talk to the manager because she wasn’t there. No phone number was given to reach someone who can fix this issue. They are saying I should have took a picture of the cancellation document. If that is the case, you should have informed the customer to take a picture or provide a copy."
"Gym has fallen off in the last year. I blame the new ownership that cares more about greed than anything. It's a graveyard of broken equipment. We are promised repairs but they just never happen. Advertisements for "sponsors" . The gym might as well be cable TV. You walk in and you see three billboards for different companies. The tvs that actually do work display ads too. Hidden $2 fee. All memberships include a "convenience " fee per month. They didn't make any announcements for it - it was added "in the fine print". So when joining, realize the dues are actually $2 more per month than advertised. I've never seen such corporate greed at a gym. The gym used to be special. The staff there still is exceptional. But even with the great staff, it's like putting makeup on a donkey. Do better crunch."
"I really like the staff here (they are so nice!) but the issue with this gym is the condition of the equipment. I keep on seeing more and more out of order signs on machines/cable stations and nothing is maintained properly. They haven’t even taken the time to lubricate the rails for the cable area so each one sticks and/or barely moves. I almost hurt myself while working out today as a weight on one of the cables stuck half way through a rep. That is just unacceptable for a large commercial gym like this."
