"At little late with this review as I visited last yr, but I have a mind like a steel trap aka elephant mind. I bought one $40 bucket of gem dirt. You think that pricey but they had hundred dollar buckets too. Also wound up purchasing 3 more 10 dollar bags. That outta the way we arrived almost right before they closed but the two guys running it were complete gentlemen, allowing us 3 grown adults to pan like little kid we were like theres one there is one. My 26 yr old never panned in her life, it made me so happy to see her enjoying herself. I wound up with huge chunks of gemstone I have only seen in the expensive books I have. The 40 dollar bucket had 4 huge chunks of natural clear quartz which more than paid for said 40 bucket."

"Tl;dr: Touristy but super fun. Cough up the $40 and get the big bucket of awesome and have fun. Absolutely positively a must do if you have kids, especially say 8 to 12 or so when they really enjoy finding treasures. Super duper fun. And you end up with super unique souvenirs for much less than a couple tshirts you'll never wear and a stuffed animal you'll lose. Just saying. A must do if in the area. Then go tubing."

"We have been here several times over the past 3 years and just came back on this vacation in the mountains. Love the gem mining, great location to other things to do. If you are early the restaurant next door is a great place to grab a bite to eat. Great selection of buckets to mine the gems and helpful staff as always. It is affordable too if you have several people mining for gems. Gift shop has several gems and other items for purchase. Right across from the river and short old single lane bridge. Recommend it! They are closed on Monday."

"Loved it, I was babysitting my little brother, he had so much fun finding the "gems and rocks". The rocks and gems are good size some big and some small, different colors as well (pink, teal, green, blue) and many more. Overall great place and environment for kids of all ages and even adults too."
