"I have been going to Andy for years for various things. I bought a necklace from him, had him make a custom ring, and asked him to set numerous stones for me. He always took longer than expected, but he is skilled and I was always happy with his work. However, the last time I went to him was very different. I asked him to tighten prongs on a ring I bought elsewhere, and he made a comment that he didn’t think my ring was real gold. Annoyed, I agreed for him to do an acid test on my ring. Meanwhile, he also questioned the validity of my real Rolex, which I have already had appraised and insured. Anyway, I did not know how to read the acid test, and Andy misled me to believe that it showed that my ring was not real. He then told me that he was tired of me buying things elsewhere and having him fix them. I thought that was a service he offered! Luckily, I took a picture of the acid test and showed it to a reputable jeweler who explained to me how to read it and yes, my ring is 14k gold. I cannot believe the lengths Andy went to to make me doubt buying from someone other than him. Needless to say, I will not be going back there again."
