Reviews of The Cycle Path
"Took my mtn bike in for service due to a noise. Ultimately, noise wasn’t fixed (turns out it was a bad bearing in an almost new pedal). My crank was removed during their servicing, and the non drive side wasn’t torqued before it was given back to me. This resulted in it falling off after a drop. I wasn’t seriously harmed, but it was a painful fall. Limping my broken bike back several miles to the car took some time since I couldn’t find the bolts. After service, they said my dropper post was broken. It wasn’t working when the bike was given back to me. Turns out, It wasn’t hooked up during re-assembly. Problem solved in about three minutes at home. They also replaced my dropper cable (they left it too long, and it rattles around in the frame on bumps now). I’m writing this review around 6 months after incident because I needed that time to cool off. Many errors on a bike can happen, I understand. The mark was missed here on several points. To the store’s credit, I took my bike back same day after the wreck (I couldn’t find any other shops with in stock bolts for the crank arm, ordering would take days). They did take bolts off a floor bike to give me. They apologized as well. I was calm and didn’t get upset. Nothing else was offered to make the situation any better. I was able to see the bolts get torqued, which I guess was all I really needed to get back riding safely. Before this service, I had ordered some parts from them. They came in several days after prior interaction. I pre paid for a new fork. Two issues here: 1. Initially I had worked out them installing it (I decided against that in the interim). Guy who checked me out didn’t fully understand this. 2. Marked price was about $200 more than quoted/ordered price (luckily I had my receipt showing I paid in full). I can say, this inspired me to buy a set of decent tools and a bike stand. I’ve possibly saved money in the long run, and if something isn’t installed correctly, it’s my own fault."
"The best Yeti Cycling dealer in NC hands down!! Customer driven and impressive staff. If your looking for a professional staff/owner this place is a most."
"I’ve been getting my bike(s) serviced at the Cycle Path for a number of years and more heavily in the past year which has afforded me the opportunity to get to know Evan and Mark. I can’t say enough good things about this shop and the people working in it. So many little anecdotes to share - I’ve ridden my bike to the shop for a repair check and been driven home by staff once they realized it needed some work (which they offered completely out of the blue). Whether it’s helping me search for my next gravel bike or talking with me about potential bike fit issues Evan is always aiming to go above and beyond for his customers. He’s never pushing a sale on me either and opts for the true consultative approach. Which leads me to the focus of this review - BIKE FIT Every time I stop at the Shop I tend to chat with Evan about 1 topic or another and Bike Fits was a regular conversation thread. Eventually, I got to the point where I said, Evan, let’s do a fit I need to figure some things out. I simply was not comfortable on my bike. I’ve had multiple bike fits in the past (for different bikes), one in Boston at a high end cycling shop, and 2 Retul fits. No one took the time to understand me as a cyclist more than Evan and what I was looking to accomplish on the bike. Rather than fit me to a computer model Evan truly took the time to understand my physique and any limitations. His process is detailed and thorough. As I got to know Evan I came to realize he’s been racing bikes for 30 years and doing BIKE FITS for 15 or so. He had me on the table measuring my body and flexibility and as I asked questions about his process he told me he obtained a body geometry certification from Dr. Pruitt (forefather of modern bike fitting). That background coupled with his experience on the bike and as a mechanic and as a coach for UCI Athletes in US and EU reinforced the assumption that I had found the right guy. Evan’s raced both Mountain Bikes and Road (heavier mountain background) just look at the ceiling on the shop at see all the old jerseys. And so, his fit process combines the coach/mechanic background, the Dr. Pruitt approach, with his on bike experience. Long story short… he quickly identified I was riding a beach cruiser. My seat post height was nearly 2 inches low and seat pushed too far back. We ordered a straight seat post (got rid of the offset post) and new saddle. Those changes were massive and after 3-4 weeks I can tell I was over developed in my quads due to the previous poor position. I’ve got a much smoother and more efficient pedal stroke now and look forward to building the base back up with this new position. If you are looking for a BIKE FIT and live in the Cornelius/Lake Norman/Charlotte area I would strongly recommend stopping by The Cycle Path and talking with Evan. Best of luck"
"Was looking to upgrade to a better bike but didn’t have the best experience at other shops. Stopped by Mark’s shop and Matt and his crew absolutely took care of me!! They not only offer more than fair prices, but they’re super down to earth and made sure my bike was set up right before I took it home. 5/5 service and honestly the best shop around!! Thanks again Gents!"
"It takes a lot to get a bike shop right. A good balance between merchandise, service and fun - these guys got it right. For me, the service and communication is the most important and these guys nailed it. For fun there is a small pump track and a fire pit at the back."
