Reviews
"Bruce Pace gives terrible, generic advice you could find on the internet. His maximum wisdom leads him to tell his clients to "watch youtube videos", as he has no clue how to genuinely help someone in need. If you have mental health issues seek help from someone else. He will not help you."
"I cannot warn you away from this man hard enough. I scheduled a series of appointments for an evaluation. I have a therapist, she just couldn't do this evaluation. To make a long story short, Bruce Pace was rude and unprofessional to me. He billed me for a full hour but I saw him for half an hour. He focused on unimportant things, and refused to understand that he wasn't becoming my therapist. What I experienced in that office should never be the experience in a place you should feel safe being open and honest. I spoke to my real therapist about it and I think she was angrier than me, which tells me I'm not blowing it out of proportion. Honestly, stay away from the entire WNY Psychotherapy practice. I had a bad experience with another therapist there a few years ago as well. They clearly don't care about patients."
"It's hard to leave a review for such a thing without going into personal details, yet still convey to the public that my experience is authentic and well judged. I had a loss recently that deeply affected me and I really needed to talk to someone. Originally I was seeing a therapist in another state and they really helped me focus on the positives. Things were going in a good direction. Then we moved. After putting off going to a new person because of all the other responsibilities I finally reached out to Dr. Bruce Pace's office (WNY Psycho Therapy Services) for an appointment. No appointments available for almost 2 MONTHS! What? Aren't they typically serving people in dire emotional stress with life affecting consequences? I really needed to talk things out with someone pretty bad, but it mattered not. No availability is no availability. I was offered to be put on a call wait list, in case someone else canceled. Ya, I took it, and got ONE appointment. Of course the first one is all the normal - catch the therapist up on what seems to be the issue. So I waited until I could get a 2nd appointment to begin my judgement of the services rendered. I got lucky on my way out from my 1st appointment and found another was now available 2 weeks later. I took it, but Christ that's no way to seek help... appointments randomly MAY become available, last minute even, or they may not and you may have to put your "issues" on hold for a couple of months. 2nd appointment - Forgot key details we'd covered in the first. Things like the fact that I even had kids. I got asked a question by Dr. Pace about my work life and in response I mentioned that the kids keep me pretty busy - he outright said something that showed he clearly had no idea I even had children. Something he asked me on the last appointment, along with their ages, as he annotated it on paper. Now in the second appointment he has no clue. I immediately said, "wait a minute, you asked me on my last appointment about my family, my kids, and I even told you their ages." I don't remember his exact following words to that, but he definitely squirmed a bit and tried to recover and make it as if he'd known, but was just unsure of the "details." Uh, ok. Red flag #1. Near the end of my visit he says on the NEXT appointment we'll talk about ways & methods to think so we can stay focused on positives. Oh, you mean my appointment that's 2 months away because there's nothing else available? That's an awful long time to wait to hear how I should be thinking about my issue! Dr., could you do me a favor and just take 2 minutes to tell me now so I've got something to work on while I wait around for your offices to either randomly call me for a last minute appointment or until 2 months away? Seriously - the guy's not a toaster. So it's hard for me to assign a "rating" to him. My experience is just one as well. Maybe he had a loss that was affecting him and it was an off day. I'm trying here to give him the benefit of the doubt. He's a nice guy. So, 2 stars for at least being pleasant. But man... for $98 for appt. #1 and $85 for appt. #2, and to be told to sit around until appt. #3 for real help... forget it. The therapist I was seeing before was $60! This was in a major metropolis where the cost of living is completely nuts. How is this guy more expensive in little 'ol Buffalo!? (Same insurance used.) I had a series of appointments lined up for 2 months away, back to back weeks. Days after the 2nd appointment and giving some sleep to the situation I called up to cancel every single one of them. I was polite but when the receptionist realized I wanted to cancel all of them, not just one, she immediately became snide & curt. Ok, you have a nice day too ma'am. I'd seek help somewhere else if you value your time, money, and trust yourself even remotely to make a smart decision about what help you may need."
