"My grandparents see this man. My grandfather has recently been in and out of the hospital which is scary enough, but during a pandemic nonetheless. My mother and family have tirelessly tried to care for my elderly grandparents and piece together information when these incidents have occurred. Tact, it seems this man lacks tact when it comes to dealing with patient families. My grandfather was told to go to the emergency room as he had a bad infection that could kill him. My mother takes her parents. The doctor tells my elderly grandmother that they’ll call ahead. My mother and grandparents get to the hospital and they say 15 minutes to a room but they’re packed. Fast forward an hour and a half. My mother calls the doctor to confirm they needed to be in emergency or if because the doctor called ahead they should be in admitting. This man decides to question my mother asking her what she thinks a call ahead will get her and does she know we’re in a pandemic. My mother who is already juggling her elderly parents and trying to make sense of a situation deserves to be spoken to that way? No. Get some manners “Doc”. You of all people know that my grandfather has been through it lately- well so has his family. Oh and after he berates her says my grandfather can come to his office for fluids. But they’re only open until 430. When my mother asks about hospital vs his office he says “I’m offering you to come to my office, call if and when you’re on your way”. Why wasn’t that offered in the first place if he has a life threatening infection? Manners. They make a difference."
