"In 2017, I used Michael Newman, whose business card indicates he is a broker for Medicare and Supplement Insurance Services, and is employed by Preferred New York Financial Group in Jericho, NY, to sign up for a Medicare Advantage plan through Aetna, on the basis of his recommendation. I called Michael before the December 7th deadline to switch insurance for the 2018 year, possibly to a Supplement plan. Again, he recommended staying with Aetna, so I called back, before the deadline, to tell him to renew my coverage for 2018. Shortly after, in December, I asked Michael what Aetna coverage is for eyeglasses and he quoted $245 for a pair of glasses. That sounded high, so I checked with Aetna and the figure was $125. I also mentioned to Aetna my 2018 renewal and they informed me that I had NO medical coverage as my policy had not been renewed and it was past the deadline. Michael did NOT make the call to renew my coverage, so now I am a 67 year old woman with NO medical coverage. This is unacceptable on every level possible. How can you call yourself a medical broker when you can not even make a simple phone call to renew coverage for a client, which results in the disaster of the client having no medical coverage. I contacted another medical broker and the situation was resolved but I recommend that you look elsewhere for a broker. I do not think it is in anyone's best interest to do business with Preferred New York Financial Group."
