Reviews of Anderson's Martial Arts Academy
"Not the best school to learn martial arts. Sifu Anderson focuses more on what he has accomplished rather than teaching the students what truly martial arts is. He might be a good martial artist but nowhere near a good teacher. Go here if you are looking to chit-chat or find something to do in your free time. It has a lot of students coming in so it's a decent spot to socialize. Physical training is fine but you have to get your own gear."
"I started off 2023 with a shoulder muscle tear with a goal in mind of training martial arts to eventually become a professional fighter , I finished off that year training from April to December and ended up as a 2nd place finalist at grappling industries never have trained jujitsu in my life up until then . Anderson’s couldn’t have prepared me enough from the material we learn to the great training partners im surrounded by. Couldn’t have asked for a better gym to train at . Truly a family , Mr.Sifu has created something special for all people to enjoy and that we do ."
"I’ve been a member of Anderson’s for about a year and a half, primarily am involved in the bjj program. Sifu Anderson and Professor Max have created an excellent bjj program and I feel incredibly lucky to train here. If you are looking to join an new gym, but are uneasy about finding the place with the right culture, I highly recommend you come train with us at Anderson’s. By and large everyone in the gym is friendly and welcoming. If you are brand new, you don’t have to worry about someone more advanced going too hard on you. The gym’s population is diverse and welcoming to all. Whether you are a high level athlete looking to compete, a hobbyist, or a complete newbie, you’ll be able to find a home at Anderson’s."
"Best Jui Jitsu program in NYC! They welcome everyone from all levels and treat everyone with respect. With a three day trial, you cannot go wrong. Our Black Belt Coach, Max ensures that everyone grows and learns each class. A strong combination of teaching and practicing. You will definitely learn techniques and leave with a better version of yourself. If you want to become a respected martial artist, build discipline, and become part of a community, please take a chance and visit us. You wont regret it!"
"My experience at Anderson Martial Arts has been very positive and beneficial to my physical/mental health! This facility is unique in the fact that it allows beginners to train with highly trained professionals. It is most definitely the best school to train at in NYC for Mixed Martial Arts and is open to students of all ages and skill-levels. The staff really takes to time to get to know each individual student and meets them where they're at. Everyone is super friendly and kind, I immediately felt welcomed from my first day training. I would highly recommend to go check it out! There's even a 3-day free trial :) 10/10"
