It was naturally very upsetting and he had a lot of emotions to deal with, especially at that young age, which is difficult. Kyoshi Herman was so kind to him and still is. He helps him get through those humps with his emotion and teaches him to channel them in a positive, productive way. Now my 5 year old twin daughters attend as well. They love it. "My son is autistic and has special needs. He is used to being treated “differently” at school with a one to one aide and in other areas of his life. But at the DOJO, he is treated the same as every other child. Every child who practices at the dojo are taught acceptance and understanding. Every child at the dojo helps teach my son not just karate, but basic human interactions. Kyoshi Herman is so patient that he shows my son combinations and skills over and over again until he finally understands, without getting frustrated or annoyed. Kyoshi has such a fun way of learning skills that the children respond positively.
