Harder Hall, located in Alfred, New York, is a premier university building dedicated to the fine arts. This state-of-the-art facility offers various studio spaces for students specializing in ceramics, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, interactive graphic design, and video. The building features a massive kiln room with 29 electric and gas kilns, providing students with the tools they need to create stunning works of art.
Graduate students in ceramic art have the privilege of having their own studio space, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in their craft. Harder Hall also houses the School of Art and Design offices, art faculty offices, Holmes Auditorium, the Robert Turner Gallery, and the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery, which showcases student, faculty, and professional artists' work.
For students interested in hot glass or sculpture classes, furnaces and a foundry can be found on the ground floor of the adjoining Binns-Merrill Hall. The Sculpture and Light Annex on Route 244 is dedicated to neon and sculpture classes, while the tin building behind Susan Howell Hall hosts sophomore drawing classes.
