Reviews of St Peters Surgery & Endoscopy
"I was in and out... even through all the COVID nonsense. Staff was great. Did not sit around longer than needed... was promptly discharged when ready. Facility was clean; nursing staff was pleasant and kind/attentive. Most importantly, my procedure was elective so I was self-pay and they offered me a great payment plan option, which was appreciated and unexpected."
"I had a cosmetic procedure performed here and all the nurses and the anesthesiologist were so caring and helpful. As it was my first surgery, the anesthesiologist made sure to explain everything that would be happening and let me know that he would be there with me the entire time. All the nurses in both pre-op and post-op were all so very caring and helpful. They were constantly checking up on me to make sure I was doing okay or if I needed anything."
"I went to ST. Peters Surgery and Endoscopy because I thought I would get good care. When I was called for my pre-op questions over the phone, I was told I would need to be there 1 1/2 hours before, the procedure which would take 2 hours and I would be in recovery 2 hours. When the nurse spoke to me 2 days after she said I was in recovery 1 1/2 hours. If I had been there another 1/2 I would have been able to understand and ask questions about discharge. The prep nurse and anesthesiologist were very good. Dr. Kopp is a very good doctor who I would recommend highly. The discharge nurse just wanted to get me out of there. I was not awake enough to ask questions about my discharge. I was called 2 days later asking how I was doing. Had a question from the discharge paper regarding steri strips which is checked and I never even had them on."
"Today I took my husband to their surgical center to have an endoscopy performed. When he was called into the center I went to go in with him. A nurse stopped me and told me she’d come back for me after she had him prepped. I was obviously frustrated, but that turned into fury as NO ONE CAME BACK FOR ME! As my husband’s advocate I ask the tough questions and ensure the doctors and nurses have all the information they need to best take care of my husband. Because of a terrible decision by that nurse, I was not there to share with them his fear of needles, talk about sensitivities and side effects of medications and remind them of his latex allergies. My concern was proved positive when a nurse attending to him while removing his IV didn’t even know what the material of her gloves were, and it seemed she didn’t know to check his files for latex allergies! What if my husband’s allergy was severe? I was also upset to read on the discharge papers that Fentanyl was used on my husband – had I been permitted to meet with the nurses/doctors prior to the procedure I would have been able to inform them of the severe side effects it has on him and to ask that they use a different chemical. What if my husband was an addict? The doctor did consult with me after the procedure, but having important information up front can make a life impacting difference. Just because the nurses and doctors have been doing these procedures for years doesn’t mean they know all the risks that individual people have when they come in the door. My hope is that they change this behavior and not only welcome the advocate but recommend patients bring one to hear all the information upfront and share pertinent information about the individual person getting the procedure performed. The next time a nurse lies to me that (s)he’ll come back and doesn’t – I will make sure I speak up much louder in person, instead of a complaint letter after the fact that doesn’t even start to express my frustration and disappointment. The only reason this has 2 starts instead of 1 is because the Doctor was very professional and pleasant."
"I had the worst experience here yesterday. There were 2 nurses that were kind and seemed to care about the PERSON they were caring for. The other staff that I encountered were RUDE, and treated me like nothing more then a number. The anesthesiologist that was treating me was extremely rude and yelled at me. Then was very pushy when I first went into surgery... I went to turn my head a bit and she turned it back quickly snapping at me. When I woke up to the nurse shoving ice chips in my face telling me I needed to get up and out of bed as soon as possible. I quickly realized that to the rest of the staff that day I was clearly not a patient - but something they needed to get out of there as soon as possible. They did no check my wrap or bandages before I left. I was still half sleeping and could not keep my eyes open while she was giving me my instructions to leave. Just kept saying "you'll rest better at home". By the time I got home I had bled through my bandages, to my pants. Lastly the person who wheeled me to my car did not speak a word to me. She came in the room with the wheelchair and stared at me until I asked, would you like me to get in there now? She replied - with a head shake. I will never bring any of my children to this place and will not recommend anyone there for any procedure they may need. I will repeat it, I was not treated like a person, but only as a number. My. Dr, and two of the nurses getting me ready were the only staff members that I encountered that treated me as a human being. This is besides the woman at the front desk."
