Reviews of Good Shepherd Hospice
"When my mother learned she needed hospice December 2020, Good Shepherd Hospice was the only place she wanted to be. The doctors, nurses and staff were absolutely exceptional, especially during such trying times. All helped us through such a difficult time, well beyond my mother's last breath. We are forever grateful for Good Shepherd."
"They were so compassionate in my sister's last days. Our nurse Linda Lyons was wonderful, couldn't have gotten through this without her.The health aides were so gentle and kept her clean and comfortable throughout, while keeping her dignity.I would strongly recommend anyone in this situation to keep your loved one home and get good Shepard. The nursing homes are a horrible experience"
"There was little support for my mother when she was supposed to receive hospice care from Good Shepherd. We had to call and fight for the minimum of help my mother and we received. They barely showed up! The staff were rude, cold and uncaring- very different from previous experiences with hospice through other agencies. Thank God my mother received compassionate care from the nursing home staff! Avoid this agency!"
"This was a horrible experience! It made dealing with the final months of my mom’s life difficult and unsettling. At first contact, we were promised the world; an aide, nurse, etc. Once the intake was completed, suddenly there was a shortage of aides because mom lived in a non transit area ( meaning the aides couldn’t take a bus there). When the aide was do at 9, she’d stroll in at 10:30 and leave before 12. Best was when the aide would just not show and Good Shepard would call 20 minutes after she was due to tell us. It was a ridiculous and time consuming endeavor. It made a difficult situation more stressful. Go to another agency, this one has no aides."
"If I could rate this hospice ZERO, I would! If you need in home hospice care, I can't recommend Good Shepherd. My dad came home on hospice care. I had to call them several times to get the help and visits he needed. I felt very alone while caring for my dying father. We finally got a visit and I asked the nurse for a medication i could use to ease his coughing and make him more comfortable. She said she would get the doctor to write a script. She never got back to me, despite numerous calls. Two days later dad died. I called Good Shepherd who came to the house to pronounce him. A day or two later, that same nurse called me to tell me dad's script was approved and she wanted to know how he was doing. I got very upset and said "he's dead". She said "what???". Then I laced into her because it was obvious that these people don't communicate with each other. How does the hospice pronounce and the death isn't shared with the staff on the case? (Not that we had such great care from the staff! I had to beg for someone to come to the house!) Thank God I got the call and not my 95 year old mother! I do NOT recommend them. And yes, I did complain to management about this and the woman was apologetic. However, it didn't take away the hurt of that phone call. Family members who care for their loved ones in home hospice need support. We didn't get it."
