Reviews of Bleuler Psychotherapy Center, Inc.
"I genuinely would recommend you go literally anywhere else. The psychiatrist I was given was atrocious, very clearly uninterested in an actual diagnosis, or giving proper medical care. If you want to be misdiagnosed and then spend years trying to convince a medical professional that the physical and mental side effects of the medication are ruining your life, this is the place to go! Therapy was also horrendous. The first therapist I had was like talking to a brick wall. The second therapist I had was the definition of nice but unkind. She'd act very sweet and nice week after week but if I said anything she thought was "weird" I'd have to spend half the session justifying my own spiritual beliefs, gender identity, and lifestyle choices that are irrelevant to mental health and absolutely were improvements for my mental health despite claiming that feeling less anxious after meditation was "the placebo effect". I genuinely was shocked to hear this place has an LGBT center after the way my therapist behaved. I can't stress enough how horrible psychiatric care from places like this are. Just avoid it like the plague and learn to advocate for yourself."
"Been going here for about 8 years and while I’ve rotated therapists I’ve always found one I connected with. I understand that not everyone had the same experience but I do find that you have to advocate for yourself because health care in the USA is terrible if you don’t speak up"
"I attended Bleuler since 2019 but I recently left (September 2023). But to give an honest review I was recycled many times(6x), where I would have a therapist for maybe few weeks or a few months it really depends. It wasn't until 2020/2023, where I had a decent therapist. But after a year and a half it became very stale, the session wasn't going anywhere, I felt a lot if displacement frustration because of my therapist, which affected my relationship with people I cared about. My therapist knew that I was frustration but instead of diverting it, I was continued to be pressed on. I often left very angry because of the lack of accountability of the therapist work ethics and professionalism. I truly won't recommend this place, it not worth feeling "unhealed" or the sense of wanted to better yourself. Go somewhere else but here."
"I got set up with a new therapist here. I was supposed to have the intake for psychiatry for medication management in September but they cancelled it and told me they couldn’t schedule it for another month. Now it’s the day of the appointment oct 30 and they just left me a voice message and said the doctor cancelled and they can’t get me in till December."
"Earlier this year, they had allegedly changed their policy on prescribing certain medications (without prior warning), which has severely impacted my ability to function in everyday life and especially at work. Psychiatrists come and go often. Even in the past, some were a lot more stingy than others. Some would even try to dissuade you from using medication. Their therapists range from terrible to competent, but the competent ones don't stick around all that long either. Been going here for about 15 years, so I know what I'm talking about. I'd recommend against it."
