University at Buffalo Center for Assistive Technology

The University at Buffalo Center for Assistive Technology, located at 210 John Glenn Drive in Buffalo, New York, is dedicated to exploring the functional utility of Assistive Technology (AT) devices and services for individuals with disabilities. Through federally sponsored research and development projects, the center creates and applies models, methods, and metrics to transform scientific research into beneficial impacts for those with disabilities.

The center offers client service programs that provide assessment, training, demonstration, and loan services to support computer and environmental access for individuals pursuing school, work, and independent living goals. By integrating multiple disciplines and collaborating across sectors, the center aims to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities of all ages and levels of impairment in any environment.

CAT's activities are multidisciplinary and involve partnerships with government, academic, public health, and business sectors to enhance the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. The center conducts applied research and development projects as well as client service programs focused on AT for individuals with disabilities and the elderly.

In addition to its focus on technology-oriented research and development projects, CAT provides computer assessment and training services for the use of AT in Western New York.
