Dianne was amazing and so cheerful providing clear detailed steps we needed to take. Her husband Joe is basically a modern day Aquaman....he was super knowledgeable about basically everything, teaches in a way that all ages can understand and not feel nervous or intimidated learning pool skills too. To my surprise my daughter looked forward to classes and pool activities with her new underwater friends versus being on her cell phone for hours up in her room. "Everything about the Open Water Scuba Certification training is great. I had snorkeled and did a resort scuba on a prior vacation, but this was my first experience with the Aquatic Center of Roch. From both a skill and safety perspective, now I know how much I didn’t know on those mini vacation adventures… Joe, Laura, Mike, Diane and all the other staff were terrific. The shop and training facilities are great too. Joe and Laura were my primary instructors and they are exceptional. If you are taking the certification classes here, I highly recommend you do the open water dives with them also, and sign up as soon as possible after you finish the class while all the training is still fresh. Joe and Laura teach and prepare you in the class and in the pool, and then help you practice & bring it all together during some fun open water dives. Don’t expect to be coddled though, both Joe and Laura are very passionate instructors and when needed they will be crystal clear in their directions and expectations, exactly as a dive instructor should be. Mike however is always hovering in the background watching over everyone, providing extra advice, anticipating the next step, and always ready with gear. I rented the gear needed for the course and dives. Renting added some costs but they helped me adjust equipment sizes a couple times along the way and I feel I can now be a much more informed buyer if I choose to invest in my own. Do be prepared to spend several hours reading the book and doing lots of review questions prior to starting the classes. There is much to learn but it is very interesting and this place really does make it fun, but it is up to you to be prepared and ready to be taught. I only planned on doing this one certification so I could dive with friends on an upcoming vacation but now I want to do more. Definitely a cool five star experience with highly skilled and passionate instructors."
